Hi, my dear color enthusiasts. I can’t believe the summer is already over and fall is here. That means October 1st is right around the corner for the 3RD Coloring Challenge.”The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge” I am thrilled that these challenges have inspired you to add color to your day. But most of all that you are finding time for you to do something you enjoy. We all need special downtime to recharge. So it’s time to start getting your supplies organized so you’re ready to join me on October 1.
As you prep keep in mind to allow give yourself permission to join in whenever you can. There is no pressure or expectation for you to participate every day.
CAN YOU PARTICIPATE IN MY 30 DAY CHALLENGE?: Wow that would be awesome if you want to participate & feel free to jump in at anytime during the 30 days! Everyone is welcome! If you miss a few days don’t feel like you have to catch up. 🙂
COLOR EVERYDAY? WHAT! The idea is to color something everyday even if it’s for five minutes. Just five minutes that’s it. Some days you will have more time and that’s even better. It’s just about adding more time to color and carve out a little time for something that makes you happy.
THERE ARE A FEW WAYS TO SHARE: You can share your work where you are most comfortable like Facebook, Instagram, Flicker, your Blog etc. If you use this hashtag #thedailymarker30day3 I can find your work or you can link with the Inlinkz tool on Day One on my blog. Please don’t NOT use INLINKZ if you are sharing on Instagram. (Instagram is the easiest for me to comment on your art work.)
WILL THERE BE PRIZES? YES! I will be working with several different companies throughout the 30 days for some super fun giveaways. Randomly I personally will be giving away some goodies too.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ME: I will be posting on my blog daily and onInstagram daily. SOME DAYS I might make a one layer card & some days I might just color an image. If something I am working on is more complex I will come back to it the next day.
THE GOAL IS: To color something everyday no matter what happening. (I know that I am happier when I am coloring even if it’s for 10 minutes.) I also want to show you that you can use inexpensive supplies to create something pretty. Hopefully together along the way we will all stretch our creativity a little bit more.
ANY QUESTIONS: If you have a question please leave a comment and I will answer the question in the comment area.
I hope you are as excited as I am and I am beyond thrilled that you might consider playing along. (as I mentioned feel free to jump in and out of the 30 days if that makes you more comfortable)
Below are a few videos that I shared in the last two coloring challenges. I am still using the same supplies so in case you missed it I have linked included them below and my essential supply list.
If you want to check out previous challenges you can click on the tab “Color Challenges” in the category section on the top of my blog. Here is a screen shot below.
Having everything at your fingertips make it easy for you to color on the fly. The challenge is for you to color (any medium of your choosing) and be open to experimenting but most of all to have fun without any expectations or pressure. Take days to finish a card or just color. 30 days of color therapy and entertainment is coming to you. Are you ready to join me again? Let the fun begin. See you in a few days! ! Hugs, Kathy
P.S. I added two items to my essentials below for this challenge. Rock Candy and Hero Arts Unicorn White Spray.

Looking forward to this 30 day coloring #3!! Knowing I can share on IG will give me more coloring time and less blogging about coloring:)

Coloring is always more fun than typing! See you on IG. 🙂

I just bought a Colouring for Adults book and I’m hoping to join you this month in the challenge. Not sure where I could post to link to your blog. I’ve been trying to find paper locally that can be used with Copic markers and doesn’t bleed. I’m in Ontario, Canada.
Anyone have a product they can recommend?
Ruth says
Hiya! I’ve just started with Copics and am using Neenah 110lb card stock. You can get it from Simon Says Stamp in packs of 25 or 250. I’m in the UK so shipping was a bit of a pain, but I’m hoping I can find a stockist here for future. SSS also does a pack of different kinds of card for you to try with Copics to see which you prefer. Happy colouring!
BunnyD says
I see lots love the Neenah for Copics but I was hoping to be able to find something local also so I don’t have to always order online in a large quantity and perhaps even find coloured cardstock that works with them. Shipping from the US sometimes involves a brokerage fee which can be prohibitive when added to the price of even things on sale sadly.
I once paid 230$ for a dress that was on sale for 140$ because of shipping and brokerage fees.
Ruth says
Hey Bunny, tried to see if I could email up direct. Drop me a line at ruthich1976 @ gmail dot com for a follow up 🙂
Claire says
Hobbycraft have started selling Neenah cardstock 🙂
Ruth says
Oooh thanks!! I have one a mere 20 minute walk away from me. Dangerous!
Lisa T says
Oooh this is very exciting, no more p&p yay!!
Deborah says
@Ruth – Neenah is available in the UK from CraftersCompanion. co.uk (who make it). Many craft shops also stock it, including Hobbycraft.
I am also a very big fan of it for alcohol markers.
Natalie says
Hey BunnyD, from a fellow Ontarian I feel your pain! If you are in or near TO I have a supplier I can suggest for Neenah paper. If you are interested email me at creations(insert my comment name) at gmail dot com
To Kathy Racoosin thank you so much for posting your 30 Day Challenges and inspiring us all to do more and do it better!

Looking so forward to the challenge. I’m feeling really good and don’t expect to miss one single day. Pooh on those doctors who said I’d be down so long…maybe they just assumed because I’m not a spring chicken that I wouldn’t “spring” back so quickly. Still taking it fairly easy, but things are not bad here. LOL Will check out the videos to make sure I have everything I will need.
Kathy Racoosin says
Didn’t the doctor tell you that coloring heals you quickly? LOL But coloring with keep you coo,l clam and collected in a relaxing sitting position. Glad to hear you “sprung” back. 🙂
Claire says
Can’t wait to get started! I’m hoping this will give me a chance to improve my colouring skills and play with all my markers and inks 🙂
Kathy Racoosin says
That’s the goal and to have fun. 🙂

I’ll be trying to play along as often as possible! 😀 Thanks for challenging us again Kathy! 😀

I have been preparing for this since you announced it! I have stamped quite a few images and cut them out so they are all ready to be colored. I have card bases ready to go and have a bin that has my colored pencils, markers, chalks and other coloring mediums in it so I can just grab it and go. I also put a package of colored pencils and some stamped images in my purse so that I can color when I am out! It makes waiting to be seen at the Doctor’s office a little easier and if I happen to go to a store I can color while I wait in line and in the car on the way to appts. My camera is working and my fingers are ready to color all month long!!!!
Soooooooooooooooooo excited for the 1st!!!!!
Kathy Racoosin says
You are ready to go big time. You are ready to color whenever you go. Nothing is more relaxing than coloring especially waiting in a doctor’s office. You have covered all your bases. I am impressed! 🙂
Melanie Fagerberg says
oh boy oh boy! I’m ready!!! Hugs, Melanie
Shirls79 says
Is Friskit the same kind of medium as Drawing Gum?
Shirls79 says
Darn it, I mean Miskit?
Kathy Racoosin says
I have only used Miskit and I like it. Sorry I can’t compare the two for you. Thanks for joining the fun. 🙂
Donna K says
I’m so excited to play along with this challenge! Thanks for your amazing inspiration and encouragement to take time out to do something that makes us happy. Even 5 minutes…what great advice. Wouldn’t the world be a happier place if we all just colored for 5 minutes a day?!
Kathy Racoosin says
We’d all be more relaxed too. 5 minutes always works for me. Have fun making time for yourself. 🙂
Dawn Y. says
I’m really looking forward to this Challenge, Kathy! I really don’t color enough, and want to help my blending skills grow. Thanks for the little ‘push.’ 🙂 So many great ideas in your video for gathering supplies in advance. It’s going to be so much fun!! ♡
Kathy Racoosin says
I’ll always “push” you to have fun and making time for yourself. See ya tomorrow! 🙂
Sheri K says
I’m so looking forward to this–I have some adult coloring books and a few new stamps to play with, I intend to get some stamping done and have more images to color. Thanks for doing this and motivating us!
conil says
Of course, I’m going to play along. Hopefully every day, if life doesn’t interfere. After all, I’d rathes do this than dull, old life.
Mari Nyx says
I am so so so so ready for this! Within seconds of you posting that snowflake card, that die went out of stock and the larger set that had extra dies did too! See how much influence and power your artistry, expertise, and style has.
I would like to point out that the Hero Unicorn Spray is being discontinued. We may have to rally around Hero Arts atop our noble Unicorn steeds and tell them the error of their ways! While my source IS credible and one of your colleges (SA), You still may want to confirm it with the big wigs at HA. I can’t wait for this to start!
Kathy Racoosin says
Oh no! I will get to the bottom of this. Thanks for the heads up. Thank you for the sweet compliment. 🙂
Mari Nyx says
You are most welcome. With a few single snowflakes, the stitche rectangle, and a paper trimmer you can get a similar effect with the rectangle/snowflakes. As far as the Unicorn spray going bye bye, I wasn’t happy and have been trying to configure some sort of hack for that one. haha. And lovely Lady, you deserve many many compliments. Say hi to Max. ~M~
Paulette S. says
Hi Kathy!! I’m so glad you do this challenge. And I’m glad that it’s not a dead line or have to kind of thing to enjoy it. I think thats awesome. You’re Awesome. Thank You and I hope to play.

Kathy Racoosin says
That’s what the challenge is all about. You’ll probably se me take more than a day to finish a card. Have fun coloring whenever you can. 🙂
Gail Plaskiewicz says
I just bought a new coloring book. It’s called Color Me Crazy with Illustrations by Peter Deligdisch. Tomorrow my mom has a doctors appointment and I’ve read all the magazines in this doctors office (we were there last week) so I am bringing my coloring book! I think it’s a great way to keep busy. If I sit there with nothing to do I might fall asleep! LOL Also, I asked Crayola how to get my crayons as sharp as when they come out of the box. The sharpener on the back and one that I bought for Crayola Crayons don’t do it for me. I need them to be out of the box sharp when I use them. Because I asked them a question and because I told them they make the best crayons and how I use them, they sent me 2 $4 coupons! I am putting them to good use, believe me! They have a box of 64 colored pencils! If they aren’t really hard lead, they will be mine!
Coloring challenge, here I come! I can’t wait!
Kathy Racoosin says
Coloring books are way more fun than magazines in a doctors office. Thinking ahead is always a good thing. I keep trying to do that. Love Crayola Crayons attitude. Hope their colored pencila work for you. See ya tomorrow when all the fun begins. 🙂
Rush'd Lady says
Have you tried the Twistables by Crayola? I have the 30 coloring pencil set. Love them for my planner. They are like mechanical pencils and I can make red letter days to my hearts content!
Kathy Racoosin says
I have seen them in the past. Good to know that you like them. Thanks 🙂
Jan D. Florida, USA says
After watching your videos wanted to tell you I have those Tim Holtz bird stamps, too, and I love them. I found the die set at my LSS that coordinates and they cut so well…no white border around the birds when die cut.
Also, I think Simon Says now has frisket in the Fineline bottles with the no clog applicator. I need to buy some frisket and cannot decide which would be better…applying with a brush or having a fineline applicator. Guess I could do both since you can buy the empty applicators. Humm
Loved the videos…some really good reminders.
Beverly Jordan says
This is a scrumptious list and really wish I had more things to paint with like the Zig watercolor pens or paints! In the meantime, have Rock Candy, Ranger paper, colored pencils, oval stitched dies, new stamps and coloring images from Lindsey Olstrom cut and ready. Stamped images, some copics, 6×6 pads, and a clean table! Ready to go! Thank you for doing all of this for us!
Kathy Racoosin says
You are good to go! I’m impressed and so happy you are excited to find some time for yourself. You are very welcome 🙂
Tatiana says
I think it’s time to get started my first coloring challenge! I’m so exited!!!

I am looking forward to the 30 day challenge again. I watched your color book review, but could not find linkz area to make my comments. I love the coloring books with the pictures on one side so that it doesn’t bleed through to another picture. Thank you for showing us options.

Hi Kathy! I’m SO excited that you’re having another coloring challenge 😉 I don’t have a blog or an instagram account. How can I post my cards/images for you?

Can I share my watercolor cards/artwork or does it have to be markers or other dry mediums?

Good question, It’s ANY coloring medium 🙂

Hi Kathy!
I’ve joined in with the last two 30 day challenges but dropped off in my own coloring after the first week. This time I aim to do MORE coloring and make it to the end. Thanks for providing so much fun and inspiration for us!

Awesome! 😀 Congratulations on your 3rd 30 day coloring challenge, Kathy! 😀
I hope I’ll manage to join the fun. I’m moving… so many packing behind me and so many unpacking in front of me. 😀
All this is so fun, because I finally managed to organize my paper scraps, embellishments, ribbons, and I also “found” some stuff I forgot about it. 😀 LOL

I love this idea of 30 days of coloring- even if it is just 10minutes. I haven’t posted anything but I did engaged coloring the past few days. It feels wonderful to get back to it. I’ve been enjoying my new Tim Holtz Crazy Bird Stamps and using the Distress Inks to experiment with different color variations.
