DAY 15. Blog Hop Day 1 Plus Giveaways

Helloooo Friends! How are you today? If you are new to my blog a warm welcome to you & thank you for your visit. Today is the 15th day of “The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge” . I have assembled a two day hop for you plus there will be giveaways along the way. Yay!

Why a hop you might ask? There are so many awesome stamp companies that I wanted to thank for their support during some or all of the coloring challenges. Today and tomorrows blog hop is a small way to say thank YOU to all these companies. If I forgot your company please email me! 

If you are wondering what The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge is or if you have questions you can refer to this post.  The premise of “The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge” is to color something everyday even if it’s for five minutes. Any medium is welcome & any skill level. 

If you have been on the fence and watching the coloring challenge from the side lines the middle mark is a great time to take the leap, jump in and get your feet wet!  Test the waters! Don’t feel like you are jumping into the middle of the challenge I hope you will think of it as a new beginning.

This beautiful “Water Lily” is from Ink On 3 and it was so fun to color.

All of the companies featured today have their own unique style and if one of these companies is new to you I hope you take the time to explore their blogs and stores to see the variety that they offer.

One of the many things I talk about is to take some supplies along with you when traveling. You might notice that my photos looks slightly different and that’s because I have been on the road and photographing these projects at the airport.

I posted this photo on Instagram stories before I left. These were the only markers that I packed in my carry on. (I have never had any problems with TSA and my some of my markers have been all over the world … knock on wood. Twice the TSA officer asked if my markers were make up …. um … NO!)

When I “color pluck” my markers I look for ones that I don’t normally use because it forces me to color out of the box. “Coloring Plucking” is randomly selecting colors lol however, I always pack, RV10, E50, 0 and a few grey markers.

Using the pink and orange together was bright and I like that combination but, I needed a little more intense color so I plucked a bright purple. You can compare the flower on the right and left to see which one you prefer. (the right one that I added the bright purple to)

One of the things I love most about stamping is mixing up the stamps to create my own look. This is the masking paper that I always use to mask off my images. For this coloring project I inked up this masculine stamp called, “World’s Greatest” with “Spring Bouquet” from Avery Elle.

Loving that bright purple ….  I added the same purple on the orange flowers for more depth.

White dots and lines were added with a gel pen. Outlining the image with a sharpie fine tip marker is something I have been doing since 2007.

This part of the coloring I did at home and finished this the rest up on the road.

Your Next Stamp has this adorable “Funny Farm Crew” & I thought this sweet little goat would look cool in a flower bed of daisies. Jane’s Doodles daisies were just the right scale for the look I was going for.

Adding twine that I color with a marker gives my cards a little bit of dimension and pop.

The background was colored first and then I used a rag with some of this for texture.

I was able to add some white gel pen accents to this and outline the image since my airplane is so delayed. That proves always travel with a few supplies! I got home late last night and had a smidge of time to rephotograph some of these for my post.

I searched for this stamp from Mommy Lhey and could not find it. Sorry about that but, hopefully this might give you an idea how fun it can be to mix up your stamps. The veggies are on sale from  Newton’s Nook. I was trying to use something from every company but, if only there was more time.

Ink On 3 has a beautiful fade out ink for “no line” coloring. Everything else today was stamped with Memento tuxedo black on 110 lb neenah. I only use the heavier paper because I love the feel and it holds the ink better with less blurred lines.

I wish I had time to finish this hopefully later.

    Tim! Such great cards you show today! I always struggle with crafting when on the road – never know what to take with me and often no proper seating and table. So I rather take my crocheting, which can even be done on a plane with little wiggle-room for my elbows… :o)

    Tim! Question…Im attending the road trip at Hero Arts and colorless blending solution is recommended. Does it need to be copic brand to use with the markers or can i use my ranger brand that i use with alcohol inks? I don’t want to mess anything up and need to buy the copic brand if I need to.     I love Tim–and all of his inks, products and tools! Great coloring–I’m currently working on a very detailed Anna Griffin coloring card–at the precipice of deciding how much to black outline and white gel pen add and whether to fill in all of the blank background pieces with a color and white color! Lots of thought but decided since once you add it’s difficult to take away, it’s best to step away for a few hours and then decide how much to add. Thanks for a great hop Kathy!

    You’ve said we can jump in half way, may I extend that to jump back in ? I had started with you and was going ok till I ended back up in hospital and surprisingly wasn’t allowed to take my art room with me, so I had to stop.     I love your helpful tips about color–especially about not being afraid to mix it up–I have multiple colored pencil sets, but the one I kept out while packing up has no true red.
