It’s National Scrap booking Day today which means a day to celebrate!! Penny Black is in a celebratory mood & they are hosting a one-day monochromatic card challenge with THREE WINNERS! Check out Penny Black’s blog to see the other DT’s inspiring monochromatic cards & get the prize details ! I hear there is going to be something BIG.
For my cards I used this new background stamp that is becoming a fast favorite. I cut a circle with a Spellbinder circle die and used pop dots to raise my panel. The embellishment on the ribbon is the cutout circle…I just trimmed it down a little bit to make it smaller and added a large pearl.
You might notice that I have been using Labels 1 MEGA die from Spellbinders. Worth every penny for me because it’s hard for me to make a 4×6 card. Here is another set of cards I created with the mega die and it’s the same technique that I used for these cards.
I embossed the image with clear embossing powder on some water color paper. Before I emboss I like to use this tool with powder to get a crisp image.
I used three Mix & Match papers from Penny Black, two distress inks & SRM sticker sentiments.
If you look closely at this card you will notice that I added a white dot to each little fleck in the circles. It really makes a difference … promise.
I combined Worn Lipstick & Rusty Hinge.. I love how they mixed together when I spritzed with water.
This one was Bundled Sage and Tumbled Glass.
I have been trimming my dies by hand when layering because sometimes I just want a smidge of paper to show. Lately I have been doing this instead…much easier. Flip you paper over and trace the outside edge of your die. Cut out your traced shape. Now you have a thin frame to accent your center panel. Add another layer for more impact without trimming.
I taped my SRM sticker sentiment down before adding pop dots and the final layer.
Add your name to the list for my SEW EASY giveaway in yesterday’s post here in case you missed it.

These are stunning & the white dots really do make a difference – very distinctive. Love the way you’ve cut out the circle then used the “waste” with a pearl.

I am a big fan of your rich beautiful colors and creative cards! Saw this post a while ago, but still can’t figure out how you open the card. How do you connect the die cut pieces to make an opening card? Do you glue them? Or put an extra sliver of paper at the top so it opens properly? Thanks! Love your blog!
These are a lovely set!! Such a nice idea! x
