Hello Friends, Welcome to the CASE Study 4th Anniversary Blog Hop. This hop brings lots of prizes, lots of inspiration and a challenge. I’m super excited to be included in this line up today. 🙂
The theme of the hop is “inspiration”. I’m using the card above as my inspiration made by the talented Iowna…. I have always admired Iowna’s style … you can see Iowna’s card on her blog here. Isn’t her photography beautiful too!
I didn’t have the same stamps but, I did have these beautiful flowers from Simon Says Stamp. The technique I used from Iowna is different (I think she used distress inks with water). Coloring directly on the stamp with a Tombow watercolor marker and spraying with water is how I achieved the watercolor effect on my card. I played a lot and stamped again when I felt the image looked to washed out. A dove blender with a blue Tombow was used to add some blue around the image. This awesome sentiment stamp set from Paper Smooches was big and bold…. just what I needed.
This second card was my attempt to perfect the first card lol. I gave up and went for an abstract look instead by spraying & spraying the stamped flowers with water and let it air dry. That’s the thing about watercolor… you can always use it for something. I used a smaller butterfly punch from some of my scraps. The great thing about these punches from EK is they can handle the thick watercolor paper.
A FEW PHOTOS TO EXPLAIN A FEW DETAILS:
This is the result after coloring directly on the stamp with the watercolor marker then spritzed with water.
Water was sprayed directly onto the paper in this photo.
I added some more color on the petals, brown in the flower center and blue around the flowers.
I wanted more color on the leaves so I used the thin tip of the marker and added directly on the paper…and blended it with a tad of water.
THE GIVEAWAY: Commenting on all entries in the hop is compulsory for eligibility for prizes and will be open until midnight on the following Tuesday (11.59 pm)
The sponsors for this week are: Poppy Stamps – Pretty Pink Posh – WPlus9 and The Twinery

Hi Kathy sweetie. Hope your doing well. It has been to long since I have been here and left a comment. Sorry about that but life is crazy it seems but I am sure we all feel that at times. Just taking a break from crafting lately, but decided to pop on the lap top and see what was happening at Case Study and what great timing. An anniversary blog hop and of course your card today is stunning as usually. Loved how you explained everything and loved how you softened it all with the water. Great trick. Love how it is muted but yet so soft and subtle. Love it greatly. Thanks for sharing sweetie and happy creating. Hugs.
