Hello Friends, I can’t believe that it’s DAY 20. ! My how time flies! Today instead of finishing the project I posted yesterday I created a smaller one layer card with a video using Mama Elephants “Freestyle Florals“! (I still have regrets on not purchasing the coordinating dies).

I thought you all might want to see how I did the background & a copic cheat. Plus a Gel Pen 101 blurb in the video.
Once I finished the video I decided to stamp some “berries” and add white dots to them. The sentiment was stamped on vellum (it’s back in stock…yay) . I cut a skinny piece of cardstock and colored it with my copics for the final touch on my card. Thanks for being excited about the challenge and all of your lovely comments. See you tomorrow! Hugs, Kathy

Hi Kathy, Just wanted to tell you that this coloring thing has been a blast! At first I thought that I didn’t have time, but I’ve tried to make this about FUN, not pressure myself into believing that I “HAVE TO CREATE A CARD” , So some days I doodle/scribble on the calendar while on the phone; some days I just sit on the floor with my 3 y/o grandson and we color Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; and then some days I can sit quietly in my craft room and “create a card”. But this challenge of yours has made me relax and enjoy the coloring. Thanks so much for reminding me why I started crafting in the first place – it’s fun!!! Now, if I could just remember if Leo is the Ninja Turtle that wears blue, or is that Raph?
Thanks for making my night Kelly!!! Your ninjas were awesome. Hugs 🙂
Kathy, this card is just PERFECT. love the grey with the bright colours (my favourite colours of course). sensational yum
This card is gorgeous. Love the bright colors and the details with the white gel pen.
I have TWO white gel pens the same brand as yours. Hardly ever used them and I don´t get them to work. Have tryed everything BUT no luck.
Love your 30 day challenge. So much inspiration.
Have a great day/Gunilla
They still don’t work Gunilla? IF not call Ranger? Thanks for your kind words 🙂
Hi Kathy!
Thank you for your answer.
Have a question for you. You said to call or maybe send and email to Ranger about the pencils? Is it they who sell them?
My English is not that good. Hope you understand my question?
Have a lovely day/Gunilla
No problem. I think the manufacture is Ranger? Maybe the store where you purchased them from will help you? Good luck 🙂
stunning Kathy. I’m so enjoying your videos
Love your videos! I’ve really enjoyed the 30 day colouring challenge!
Love how you created that grey background.
Will be giving your technique a try today.
Your card is gorgeous.
So happy your going to host a second coloring challenge.
okay i thought i was the only one who tested out pens on their hand! LOL seriously my kids grew up seeing me do that, did it too then got yelled at by teachers. (i mean if you have no paper handy to write yourself a note, why the heck not?) love the video and continue to love the challenge everyday. Thanks so much for all the inspiration.
Kathy I can’t thank you enough for creating this challenge. I’m enjoying stamping again! Not at all rushed to finish a card just enjoying the process.
BTW thanks for sharing your time and talent in making this video. Love the textured Copic background look. Going to be a must try.
I have such challenges with those Signo pens. Thanks to you, your video cleared up most of the issues I’m having.
Again, many thanks for sharing your joy of coloring. I found my inner child!
OMG that’s so awesome to hear Sandi thank YOU. Thanks for your love and see you this weekend. Woo HOO xo
Oh! That’s how the background was created. Much easier than I thought. I wish I had Copics. The results are stunning!
Very cool watching you play Kathy. As I have mentioned before I am not really a copic gal..I have ten markers but that’s it, that being said I STILL love watching you play and still feel that there are things to learn no matter whether someone is working in a totally different medium or project from you (I love watching people make mini books even though it’s not really my thing) I find it inspiring all the same! I really liked your nubbly rag trick! I’m thinking that I should get some colorless blender fluid! LOL Very cool. TFS
Thanks so much Dolly 🙂
Kathy, Thank you, Thank you, for the video’s. I am learning so much. I LOVE my copics !!! That card is so awesome, love it. So much talent for one lady, oh my!
Thanks Kathy for the video. I found that the white gel pen on my skin worked really well so I have actually started doing that with my other colored gel pens too…… Works great…
Yay thanks for letting me know Sherry!
Hi Kathy , I use the jelly roll white,it’s the same way.I use my finger to get it going as well.I’m surprised how I can blend any of the colors together with my copics. This was very fun.Blessed day
Beautiful card and love the way you added the texture and of course the colouring.
I always seem to have a problem with large backgrounds and the O blender solution on material really solves that problem. Love the texture it gives the background. The white dots and outlining always gives special detail to the project. Thanks
I need some Copics! After seeing all that you do with them!
LOVE the background!! Do you think the colorless blender will work with other alcohol markers? I have the Prismacolor markers. Also, thanks for the tip about warming my white pen up on my skin! Definitely going to try both of these techniques! THANK you!
Hummmm Barb I would think that the Colorless blender would work with other alcohol markers. Good point 🙂
I am going to order some and see. Will let you know how it turns out! 🙂
Thanks again Kathy for yet another wonderful day with some easy idea’s.
Loved you’re video. Love watching how so beautifully you blend the colors together. The white dots sure adds alot. Love it. Beautiful work. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.
Wow, this is gorgeous! I love watching you create!
Your card came out beautiful. Love that background and the color combinations. I have a Sekaura White Gel Pen also and sometimes it takes a while to get going. I’ll have to try the trick with starting it on my hand. Thanks for the tip.
Love your card. The color combos are just great. Thanks for the tips.
Gorgeous card..
tried it with my white pens..one started to work the other one did do a bit after a long time ..but than stopped ..and this happened a few times…
Thanks for the tip…
ahhhh bummer 🙁 thanks for sharing Holly
Very informative and encouraging video. Thanks for the cheater method and tips on the uni-ball pen. I just tried it out and it works.
This is terrific, thanks for the tip on white gel pen, I have a few that no longer seem to work so I’ll give this a try. I also love the card, love the texture technique. I have taken a copic workshop and learned a ton, this is a good review of info for me, thanks so much!
cute card. Thanks for the “Copics” cheats.
I learn so much watching you work. Thank you for the video.
This really looks like something I could pull off with my alcohol markers. Thanks again for motivating us all to go and have fun colouring. I managed to turn two of my coloured pieces into cards this weekend but haven’t had a chance yet to take pictures and post them on my blog.

I love your unedited video and that white pen. I hope to get a Wink of Stella tomorrow. Thanks for sharing.
I am thoroughly enjoying the 30 days of coloring. I am not familiar with Copic markers, and your have helped convert me to them. And a huge thank you for today’s tip with the Signa white pen. I get so frustrated with the flow and tried your finger as a practice substrate – it works! As soon as I purchase Copic pens, I will take the OLCC your suggested. I have taken several of their classes and learned so much about stamping and die cutting – but the coloring is FUN!
Yay so happy it worked Lorna!
i LOVE this card- what a fabulous background & i love the bright colors! thanks for another amazing video! I was often frustrated with the white gel pens- but since i’ve slowed down & warm it up on my skin like you’ve suggested- it truly works so much better! Thank you so much for sharing all your little tips & tricks! The whole challenge is so fun & i too am trying to just do something every day with no pressure & am enjoying it so much!
Thats so great to hear on both accounts Gabbe! Thanks! 🙂
Oh WOW! This is amazing!!! Thank you for sharing, Kathy 😀
Wow! Loved your card on Instagram which than brings me to your blog to see the wonderful video on how you made that background. It’s absolutely terrific and the results of 2 Stencils is wonderful. Thanks for showing us how!
Thanks for stopping here Liz 🙂
What a fantastic video today, Kathy! I can’t thank you enough for the Signo tips today! I had pretty much given up being able to get a white pen to work for me, even tho I did use my finger to get it started. However, your suggestion to take your time with these pens and let the ink (Paint) flow make so much sense – and it’s working for me! Yeah!!!!
Such a simple suggestion, but it’s genius – give the pen the time it needs to work! 😀
Loving the Color challenge – can’t wait what else you have in store for us!
Yay so happy you got that gel pen working!!! Thanks for the kind words 🙂
Thanks for your inspiration and teaching Kathy! I had a gel pen that none of that worked for–I’m guessing it was too old (maybe 2 yrs old). So I’ve got a new one and will give that a try.
Hi Kathy!! I love your tips and tricks video, no cheating there! LOL And I love when you show us how something wonderful, like that textured background, is not what I imagined at all. Totally fun. Thanks for all that you share. (((Crafty Hugs)))
That textured background is so awesome!! And so easy to do! Thank you for sharing, Kathy! P.S. I think my favorite line from this video was “Kathy forgot to hit record” Love it!
The writing on your skin thing works with my white gel pen! Love the card. I was so curious as to how to you created that background. I was so intrigued in your last post! Thanks for sharing, Kathy!
Thank you for this video. I LOVE how you did that background and it was so quick. LOVE how you colored your flowers too. I am going to have to try this. It always takes me FOREVER to color. (fun, but sometimes you want to make a “quick” card!)
I threw out all my white pens like that because I could not get them to work. I should have kept them and called the company. I tried everything I could think of except your trick. Oh well. Maybe I will try them again!!
