DAY 9. W-PLUS 9 Creating Backgrounds

challenge_graphic-June-650

Hello Friends, How are you? Yesterday I said that I would finish  my card today. How about a change in plans? I really wanted to watercolor these new stamps from W-Plus9.
IMG_5717

I love creating backgrounds with one or two stamps from a set. I fell hard for this stamp set called, “Doodle Buds” and there is a matching die cut too.  Finally I was able to take the my new Zig Clean brush pens for a test drive. You can purchase them separately at Simon if that interests you.

IMG_5720

Sorry for the bad photos tonight…just a kitchen counter kinda night lol. I get such pleasure making these backgrounds. I did my outline thing with a copic marker when the watercolors dried.

IMG_5719

Who can stop at one…not me! Love the simplicity of this.IMG_5718

Not sure if this is finished but, just had to color a bunch of the flowers in the stamp set. These flowers get me so pumped!

Go here to read more about the 30 Day Coloring Challenge and if you want to share what your creating go to Day 1 and scroll to the bottom of the post. You will find a blue Inlinkz tab to link up your coloring.

Thanks for weighing in yesterday about You Tube. I swear you guys are the best. Big Hugs, Kathy

Love! What a fantastic idea. You’re giving me so much inspiration every day – through your blog and IG and the number of people doing the challenge I’m following too. I’ll not lack any mojo for a while now!! Xx

      June 9, 2015 at 2:50 pm

Mojo is important so make sure your give yourself some mojo every day. 🙂

        June 11, 2015 at 10:07 am

This is a fact. When life takes me away from creating, my senses become dull. When I do creating every day, even just a little, I am more sensitive to shapes, colors and textures around me. I appreciate your 30 Day Coloring Challenge so much because it keeps me connected to what I love to do. You really have no idea of the effect your challenge has on people. It goes beyond putting a little color on paper just for fun. It expresses who I am and who I aspire to be. It gives a satisfaction that I get nowhere else. It is so exciting to get my new idea onto paper. I hope you will continue to have these fun challenges that stir up my mojo. 🙂

Kathy I love how you coloured these flowers and your backgrounds. I was looking at these stamps and decided not to get when I did my order – ohh the regrets I have….. You are so good.

    Great backgrounds. Very cleverly done.

Oh my Kathy these are beautiful. The colours are so vibrant. Zig pens, another think to look up. You are such a wealth of information. I just watched one of your videos where you talk about light and shadows. Its so refreshing to hear you say just put them where you think as I always had this thought I was doing it wrong now I know it doesn’t matter. Awesome.

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      June 9, 2015 at 2:52 pm

I’m thrilled you aren’t worrying about shadows anymore! Have fun for you. 🙂

    This is BEAUTIFUL KATHY!!! 😉
I jumped in & tried to add my creation. It says I’m linked, but I don’t see it, so I wonder…..? Just wanted you to know I AM playing along! 😉 KEEP UP ALL THE COLORING!!! 😀

These are great! I’m looking at getting a set of watercolor markers… I can’t pull the trigger… Spectrum aqua? Zig? Akashiya? Suggestions?

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      June 9, 2015 at 3:26 pm

My favorite is the Zig hands down. You can get a marker look and a watercolor look. The brush tip is fabulous for detail and washes. Colors blend beautifully. *80 colors to choose from individually or sets. A Zig video coming soon.

  7. Jackie says

    June 9, 2015 at 9:02 am

You did a fabulous job with those flowers, I love them! Will you please do a video using those Zig pens soon? I can’t seem to make anything but a mess with them!

Sometimes you just have to go with what moves you. I finished a few cards so far with things I colored while traveling, but yesterday I’m not sure I actually did 10 minutes actually coloring but I did play with paper so it’s all good. Today, not sure yet, but I think I might make stationary.

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      June 9, 2015 at 2:57 pm

Just make sure you do for you everyday. All play is good. 🙂

Hi Kathy, I just knew you would fall for this new stamp set. It has your name written all over it. Just came home from a trip to Heraklion to buy a new B/W laser printer for my home office and managed to snag some Sakura Micron pens, W&N liquid masking (I seem to misplacing this all the time) and a W&N Cotman water colour pad in the same shop. Sure beats ordering them from the US and paying for shipping. Turns out the pens and the masking fluid were also considerably cheaper than in the US (for a change). 😉

Oh my gosh – these are gorgeous! I just received mine yesterday and haven’t had a chance to ink them up. We are in the middle of VBS at my church and I spent last night chasing 18 three and four year olds! Once my Aleve kicks in I plan to ink these beauties up….thanks for such lovely inspiration this morning!

    • Kathy Racoosin says

      June 9, 2015 at 3:01 pm

I would need more than Aleve and a lot of coloring to recover from all those little ones. LOL

When the release of this set came out, I have to admit, I put it on a wish list but you have transformed it into a MUST HAVE YESTERDAY (which is when my WPlus9 Order came) lol When you stated you are not an artist but a colorist in your video, I must disagree, you are indeed an Artist. I would frame those beautiful flowers and hang them on my wall. Thank you for teaching so much! ~M~

Oh my gosh! The colors are amazing! I love how it all looks. You are so good at this! I hope you enjoyed what I sent you. I’m almost done with my Chinese or Japanese kite picture for Dover’s coloring contest. My mom had to go for a mammogram today and I went with her because she has bad knees and needs my help with her cane and walking. I took my coloring so while I was waiting I could color. I brought my colored pencils and a clip board. Hey, when they don’t have any good magazines to look at you can always color!

  50. Jodene says

    June 9, 2015 at 10:18 pm

Wow! Those colours practically jump off the page, I love it! I wasn’t sure about this stamp set, but I am so glad now that I added it to my cart on the weekend so they are on their way. You have given me a lot more inspiration to use them now 🙂
