Hello Friends, How are you? Staying warm? Today I have a big giveaway and a short post.
I am trying to give some of my other coloring mediums an opportunity to make an appearance. Today it’s the colored pencils turn. This sweet bear is from Honey Bee Stamps and he’s trying to stay warm with the snow we got today.
I do love the texture that using colored pencils gives an image. Building up color by adding layers gently are a few tips that I have learned along the way. If you push to hard you get a waxy layer and can’t add any more color. Starting off my paper with copics or pencils helps me achieve a softer look.
Look at the bags of stamps that Melissa from Honey Bee stamps gave me to give to YOU all. Thanks Melissa!!
Just leave your name on the Inlinkz at the bottom of the post. Thanks for your visit! Hugs, Kathy
P.S. Go HERE to read more about the 30 Day Coloring Challenge. (it’s not to late to jump in) If you want to share what your creating go to DAY 1 and scroll to the bottom of the post. You will find a blue Inlinkz tab to link up your coloring .
What a little CUTIE 🙂
LOVE your colouring too – THANK YOU for the top tip about colouring with pencils … I think I have been too heavy handed in the past, must be why I have been avoiding them => looks like it’s time to giving them a go again.

Just pulled my colored pencils out last weekend to take on a camping trip this coming weekend. Love your little bear. He’s so adorable. And you must be the fussy cutting queen. Amazing! I will use your coloring tips this weekend, I’m sure. Thanks for sharing.

I just got some of her stamps and I love them. Great quality and so cute!
Never thought of colouring like this (outside the lines) and then fussy cutting it. Great texture on the bear.
Hi Kathy, I love my Prismacolor Pencils. I find them easier to use than my markers.
The little bear is adorable!
That is so cute! I’ve never used her stamps, it would be great to try.
loving it
Wow… Love the coloring on your bear. Thanks So Very Much for the tips for using pencils. I have struggled with them in the past, now I must give them another try.
I love to see your pencil colouring! That’s my go-to colouring method, although I’ve been practising with Zig markers a lot during your challenge to get more comfortable with them. The little bear is adorable! Thanks for more fun giveaways!
I’ve been getting into colored pencils here lately. I love seeing tutorials using them. Not as many out there as there are markers. Most colored pencil tutorials are drawing with them and that’s just not me. I haven’t got that one accomplished yet. That beat is too cute. Love it.
I’ve been doing a lot of coloring lately in a book. Can I post pics of those? I’ve not made anything with them yet just colored. Does that count to qualify to post pics for the coloring challenge or do they need to be used in a card, scrapbook or journal?
Thanks for the inspiration and the giveaway.
Absolutely post what you are coloring in a book. Making time for yourself doing what you enjoy always counts!:)
I hope my name is added by leaving a comment. Thanks for the opportunity!
Great coloring as always! Super cute, love the texture of pencils shown in the coloring
Thanks for the coloring pencil tip. I learn something new everyday.
Ooh – this is precious! I am trying to learn more about colored pencils too. I got an online class and hope to get better at this medium as I think they may be easier to travel with! Great card and inspiration (as usual) Thanks Kathy!!
Love your coloring technique.
I use colored pencils a lot and you are right you have to use a feathery touch and layer it to get the tones and shades just right. Your coloring looked great! I tried your idea of adding white to my card when I’m finished coloring and it looks SO much better! Thank you for the tip. Hugz
Oh my goodness that bear is SO sweet. Love seeing the colored pencil look. I work on shading and hopefully one day I will get better at it. Thank you for your tips.
I use colored pencils for doodling but have never thought to use them for a card. Thanks for the great tip.
Thanks for sharing your coloring tip!
So sweet. Love the bear and your soft colors.
Oh wow! I love this sweet card!!!!
serious fussy cutting on that bear!
That bear is ADORABLE! I love my colored pencils. I find I’m so much better with those than with alcohol markers. I need to try laying down the base color with markers and then finishing with pencils – see what kinds of results I can get. I haven’t tried that yet.
Thanks for the great tip! I will try this technique. Love the sweet bear!
Oh it’s so cute!! Thanks for sharing the tips Kathy! I, for one, often press hard when using colouring pencils, now I know what not to do!! 🙂

Cute bear
I love coloring with my pencils! Thanks so much for the push…Your bear is adorable!
Love the bear! So cute! I really like the different colors on the hat. I need to remember to not be afraid to combine colors like that. Also need to remember to have a light touch to start! Thanks for the tip! 🙂
Love coming by to see the latest coloring!
A mystery parcel, would be fun to win one of those. Thanks for the chance.
Love it! Colored pencil or w/c pencils are still my favorites. I am learning to use the alcohol markers, but fall back to the pencils when the results matter and I don’t have time to do it over! One thing I love to do is stamp several images of a stamp and color up a bunch of them. Then I can pick the best and leave the rest. (Of course, I only do this when I’m not pressed for time! It’s great to have a supply of images already done when time is short.)
Wow this bear is cute!
Love this little bear!!! Thanks for introducing me to this company!
This little bear looks so cute, its nice to see some pencil colouring.
It’s adorable! I hope I win and what a great idea to combine the three different stamps and the colors

Cute bear! Your coloring that shows the texture of the paper looks awesome!
Over here, we’re experiencing a bout of summer. We haven’t switched on the heating for 4 days in a row and tomorrow promises to be another warm and sunny day with a temperature of around 25 °C.
Love your sweet bear. I had already inked up a flower wreath to be coloured using pencils. Maybe I can squeeze in a little colouring time tomorrow…

No worries! 🙂

What an adorable card Kathy! Thank you for the colored pencil tip. I always press too hard and hate that waxy build up on my images.
Wow! That’s how was this bear colored? Looks pretty simple and the result is amazing!
Thanks for the tip on coloring with pencils. I have Inktense pencils and use them with water but now I know I can get a whole different look with them.

What a cute bear! Good tip on the colored pencils too-thanks!
What a sweet little bear! We have no snow here (darn), but it’s never too soon to start on next winter’s cards and still hope for some snow this winter. I so appreciate you using so many different mediums in the coloring series. I suspect I’m not the only one who doesn’t have Copics, but colored pencils are easy to come by and are pretty cheap. You make frugal look divine!
Kathy, Is this on watercolor paper to get that bumpy texture?
I used neenah cardstock and a very light hand with the colored pencils. 🙂
Thank you for the tip to start coloring outside the image. I’ve never thought of that before, but want tip try it now after seeing your wonderful card.
Aww! He is SO adorable!
What a great tip and great giveaway. Thank you
This has been so fun to learn so much. Thanks for the chance to win.

I love your cute little bear. I have always liked colored pencils. Thanks for the tips and the beautiful coloring!
Cute lil guy! Thanks for the great coloring tip!
Love you soft the image looks with pencils, I have them but never use them, now I’m inspired.
I was so happy to see that you used coloured pencil today for your project. I was secretly hoping that one of these days you would be using it when I asked for your advice. Thank you so much for the tips!
Colored pencils are near and dear to me. I think they are the easiest way to learn blending. You keep the control with pencils. It really helps understand. Then it is easier with the other mediums
The doily decoration on the giveaway bags is so cute and simple, but looks nice! Thanks!
Your bear is so sweet! Love your coloring, great work!
How sweet! Thank you for the tip about going soft with color pencils. I was getting too much wax buildup and unable to add or adjust the color after that. Love how you cut out his hat!!!
Adorable! Love the texture from the colored pencil.
