Hello Friends, Can you believe it’s Day 26!! I am not quite ready for the challenge to be over. I am back with a card and another giveaway today. Thank You all that responded in the comments… it was fun to hear how many days you have colored. I am thrilled that some of you jumped in and out and some of you colored daily. Either way you are coloring more than before and that’s so awesome. If you colored two days that’s a success to me!
When I travel I pack up some of Simon Says Stamps Coloring Cards in my bag, two brushes and some watercolors. Suzy Plantamura designed the cards for Simon and each one is a beauty to me. After watercoloring this card from the set…
I thought it would be fun to cut out the wreath & sentiment and layer them up. The card on it’s own is a stand out and it’s not necessary to cut it out but, when the mood strikes you.. you go for it lol.
In this post I created a spatter background for two cards. When I cut out the pineapple wreath it just fit perfectly on my spare background. I cut a banner around the sentiment from the card…. watercolored and spattered it. Added some foam tape to the wreath & I was finished.
Of course I added some white accents with my white gel pen.
The pineapple is from this set of 12 cards. Each design in printed on Tim Holtz watercolor paper (my favorite paper) Such a great value especially if you have seen the price of store bought cards these days. (All SSS products are 25 % off until the 31st. CODE IS FLASHSALE to get the 25%off. )
This set of 12 is all about love & the designs are just as wonderful and oh so fun. Don’t forget to use code “SSSFLASH” to get the 25% discount.
One more thing …. If you are doing some shopping during the sale I promise you will love this if you don’t have it already.
I used the Smile die cut on Day 1. it’s the perfect size for cards and it’s only $5.99 before the sale. It’s rare that I nudge you to buy something unless I use it a lot and I truly love it.
ok let’s roll to the giveaway.
GIVEAWAY : I have TWO $25.00 gift certificates to giveaway to the Simon Says Stamp store. Two random winners will be announced at the end of the challenge.
TO QUALITY FOR THE GIVEAWAY: just say “hi” in the comment area …or you can tell me what your favorite coloring medium is. Not required tho 🙂 It’s just fun to hear.
That’s it for today. I will be back tomorrow for “It’s All About You Feature”
Have a great Saturday and I am grateful for your visit. Hugs, Kathy
P.S. If you want to see what people are sharing on Instagram click here.
P.S. S. If you want to share what your creating go to DAY 1 and scroll to the bottom of the post. You will find a blue Inlinkz tab to link up your coloring.

“Hi!” My favorite medium would depend on what I want for my final result. Sometimes it’s watercolor pencils and the Dove blender. Other times, Copics, or tim holtz markers, or Tombows, or “plain” colored pencils, with or without Gamsol. I can get so carried away. I do love to color, just one of the reasons I love your challenges and respect all the work you do and your talents. Thank you.

add some of the cards while there is a sale.

Copics, pencil crayons, watercolour pencils or tube paints, I love them all. I do love using a bit of coloured pencil after colouring with my Copics. I don’t see many people doing that.

Hello Kathy!!! My favorite medium would be watercolor. Lovely card and your coloring is fantastic too btw
Michelle says
Hello from Singapore! *jumps in excitement haha*
Hmm…my favourite colouring medium for just laying down colours(without excessive blending or shading or dimensional colouring) I think it has to be the zig clean colour real brush pens. Reason being, it doesn’t bleed through my cardstock like Copics do.
So if I just need to add alittle colouring onto something one-layered, I’ll surely reach for the zigs first.
If I get to hide the bleeding using layers, and I’m feeling ambitious about colouring alittle more dimensional, I’ll reach for Copics.
But in actual fact, I do love traditional watercolouring a lot 😀 it’s just that I’m usually short on time and I don’t have a designated table for crafting (sometimes I even do colouring on the floor) so unless I have at least an hour to watercolour at a leisure pace, that’ll probably be the last medium I reach for.
Kailash says
Hello Kathy, hope you have a great day!. My favorite medium to color with is copic markers, I just love using them!!!

Barbara Green says

Cindy Major says
Hi Katie,
Hard to pick a favorite coloring medium. I’ve really learned to love my Copics markers in recent years and couldn’t live without them but I still think my favorite way to color is watercoloring with ink and an AquaPainter brush on watercolor paper. This is what gives me the best control, I can get soft colors or really vibrant, saturated color and I also have an extensive ink collection that matches my cardstock and papers, so it allows me to match my papers well.
Have a great weekend!
Cindy

Your wreath turned out nice. I think your coloring made pineapples work as a wreath. I have only really used color pencils. One day I may try watercolors since the pencils are not really working out for me.

Gail Plaskiewicz says
Kathy, this is a really nice looking card! Pineapples remind me of Hawaii and I went to Hawaii in 1980. What an amazing place to visit! I’d love to go again but not unless I win some major money. My dad paid for that trip and we paid for souvenirs and meals and not all meals either. He got a deal on that trip and I am thankful every day that we got to go. Thanks for bringing up some great memories.
What do I love to color with? I love colored pencils, especially when they are nice & sharp. Water colors are fun too especially when I use my favorite ones. I have a ton of paint brushes because sometimes I need a certain size and now I have every size I will ever need. I also love crayons but I have a problem with sharpening them. The box comes with a sharpener but they never get as sharp as when they are brand new out of the box. I wrote to Crayola and they told me to get a eye liner pencil sharpener which I bought. Can you believe they told me that someone told them about doing this, not that they knew what to do? The crayon didn’t fit in either side of the sharpener! I want them to be really sharp! I have the most amazing crayons from Crayola and because I am a preschool teacher, I’ve used other brands. Crayola is the best hand down. I love my markers but some of them seem to be leaking and bleeding! I thought you said that markers should be laying down which is how I have them stored and some are leaking and bleeding. I don’t know what’s going on. I had to wipe some of them off and some bled into other things when I was coloring them. I want to like Copics but I really don’t know how to use them and one of them bled into something else when I was using it. I can’t wait until I can learn to use them! Let’s see, I love to use glitter and embossing powder too for a card and for fabric. That’s coloring too, right?
I never thought of cutting out one of those cards out and using them for a card like that. Maybe I will try that sometime. I don’t think I have that coloring card but I do have a set of them. Maybe it’s in there and I don’t remember.
Try to stay cool. I just put on my night shirt and I threw my clothes in the hamper. They felt wet. It’s been very humid even though we had some nice rain showers. Tomorrow I will color again and I am going to be making a birthday shirt for my nice. There may be coloring involved there too!I want more of those fabric markers!
Jana says
Gotta be Copics!

Picking a favorite medium is like picking your favorite child… you love them all, but sometimes you happen to like spending time with one more than another… or perhaps one happens to be frustrating you at the moment! Ha! There’s the easy going kid, Zig. Copic, who always takes longer to accomplish the same thing. Watercolor, who’s free spirit is sometimes too loose for us, right? Pencils, always reliable but sometimes a but dull, in more ways than one. LOL. But we love them all equally!!! One big happy family!
Jill says
That wreath you colored, knocks my socks off!! Wow! My current favorite is watercolor–Zig, Distress and watercolors. Ha!! 🙂 Continued thanks for the challenge!

I love the idea of these cards, and of course, you had to switch it up! I go through phases with my coloring, but always come back to my watercolor pencils and my kiddie markers. I love to scribble them out on a piece of clear acetate or scrap packaging and pick up the color with a damp paintbrush. It’s great for smaller images and spaces (like you get with a stamped image!) Thanks for taking it up a notch and for these challenges.
