Hello Friends! How are you today? Raise your hand if you love WPlus9 stamps!! I love Dawn’s illustrations … especially her florals and I wanted to feature the “Christmas Rose” stamp in a non holiday way for my guest spot on the WPlus9 blog today.
Do you have success with Zig markers? Watch my video to see how easy it can be.
My video is sharing my watercoloring process with the card on the right using Zig markers plus sharing some of my fav coloring tips. For the card on the left … that’s my bonus card using the same stamp.
This card is proof that you can use your misti with the stamp hanging off the side of the misti. For it to work … you have to push down harder on the lid or cover of the misti in the area that you are stamping. I stamped “Christmas Rose” with black India Ink. This is my new go to ink for watercoloring! Thanks to Lydia for her recommendation.
My preferred paper is the pre cut Tim Holtz watercolor paper … I love that the paper is bright white. I prefer to stamp on the textured side because I feel like the Zigs move better on the textured side. The background has a wash of distress ink. This is similar to the palette that I like to use when I am painting a background with distress ink.
This is my bonus card using the Christmas Rose stamp. I stamped this a few months ago and added my first layers of color on the airplane and wasn’t able to finish my coloring until Monday.
I stamped this with Simon Says Stamp’s Barely Beige ink and use my alcohol markers for a first layer of color.
My favorite new fun thing to do is add rips and imperfections in the petals and leaves with the background color.
I took it one step further adding pod type doodles in the petals plus reshaping the petals & leaves too.
Adding black to the nooks & crannies made my coloring pop. A quick wrap of vellum with the sentiment finished my card off quickly.
Thank you for your visit today and thanks to WPlus 9 for the feature. It’s always an honor and a delight. See you this weekend for a Simon Says Stamp hop. Hugs, Kathy

These cards are so amazingly bright and beautiful ! I still don’t have a chance to try these markers since they are quite an investment but I’m keeping an eye on their price…

Thanks Kathy for the great Zig tutorial video. I learn everytime more from you. Love both cards and also that you add rips and imperfections to the leaves. That’s something I didn’t do yet, but I hope to give it soon a try. I already coloring the nooks and crannies and using a black marker for my stamp lines and you are so right the coloring pops when you do that.
