Day 25. Wine Tasting Bridal Shower & Giveaway

Hello Everyone! How was your weekend? I hope it was full of sunshine and lots of coloring. I am in full bridal shower mode and thought sharing would be my coloring for today.

This is the printed, cut and scored final invitation. Below I will explain how I watercolored these and then had them printed.

The back wine label has the invitation details. I wanted the front label to be simple. I went to a local invitation store to put the invitation details on my painted purple label. The flags are glued to a super long straw called a wine bottle straw.

The size of these is a few inches shorter than a wine bottle. The envelopes were difficult to find and I discovered they were very expensive to mail. The postman told me it was considered a package so that would be $3.50!! I am going to go to another post office and see they say the same thing.

I had the sides of the wine bottle pre cut to save time and I cut the rest out including the flag.

For my wine label I wanted to find the perfect wine label looking stamp and I thought that this from Neat & Tangled was perfect. This is my layout. I drew the bottle, flag and labels … stamped the blooms and watercolored everything. Super fun!

The stamp was inked up with Ink On 3 fade away ink. I added details and lines to the blooms and stems once my watercolor was completely dry. Everything was watercolored on paper from Creative Parties.  (I wrote the “cheers to love”)

This is the finished bottle and labels and the rest was up to Creative Parties to get the invitation details formatted on the wine label and the flag then printed.

To assemble …. these were scored, wrapped and glued together by the back of the label. They fit over the bottle like a coffee cup sleeve.

In case you wanted to see where the score lines are. The best bone folder is from SSS … it teflon and it’s worth the extra money to me because it’s a great weight, comfortable in your hand and doesn’t leave a shiny line on your paper!

    Fade Out. The invites turned out so well. Sorry about the mailing costs. I worked for the Post Office for over 27 years and the “package rules” now in force are the most over the top regs they have started. It is a way to increase revenue. Bless their hearts.

    These look gorgeous, I love the design and the colour combo. Hopefully you’ll get to mail them cheaper… I had a similar issue with my own wedding invites – I totally forgot to keep an eye on the weight when I was making them, and I had a very unpleasant surprise at the post office… But hey, it had to be done! 🙂

    Kathy, they are considered a package because of the size and thickness. They can’t be machined (called non-machinable) and must be handled differently than automated mail. It also goes by weight. Package rate up to 4oz. is $2.66. anything longer than a dollar bill is considered a “large envelope” which costs more than “letter size”. I worked for the P.O. for over 26 years and it’s still the best deal around.

    I really want to try the “Fade Out” ink pad. What a genius idea to color images for a card and have them printed out.     Fade out! Now that I got that out of the way, how did you finally mail your invites? Did you find a cheaper way? $3.50 is way to expensive to have to mail those out and I can even think of some famous people who would say that never mimd us people who aren’t rich and famous. Those invites are so great! I love how you colored those flowers. I am making birthday cards for my aunt and a friend of my mom’s. Hey, I make cards and when I can I also sell them so why should’t I make a card for my mom’s friend? Why give Hallmark all the business? LOL Thanks for showing us your wine bottles and your pretty flowers that you colored and for giving us the chance to win something. I clicked on the site because I had never heard of them before and I found some things I would like to get when I win. What a great site!
