Hello Friends, Have you all recovered from the hop yesterday? Pretty amazing inspiration. At the bottom of my post I have a recap of all the goodies up for grabs. If you missed one scroll down for the links to yesterdays post.
Time has been so limited these past few days lol and I am itching for more time to color.
It’s a wedding weekend on the fly so I grabbed a marker, sharpie and this background that someone gave me on a road trip.
I outlined the petals first adding more definition on the petals and I love doing this.
Here it is almost finished.
This is before I started. Not I have my large stamped piece from yesterday to work on throughout the challenge and this. Woo Hoo

The hop was so much fun and full of inspiration and tips. I so appreciated all of the bloggers who participated and shared their beautiful projects. I was blown away by each and every one of them! As always, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the effort you put into your 30 day coloring challenge because it motivates me to set aside time for myself to just let go and color/create, but the inspiration from other crafters via IG is such a helpful thing! Seeing other participants and their projects gives such a creative rush and their encouragement helps and vice versa. Such a great community we are all part of and it’s all because of you, Kathy!! Thank you!!
Oh Christy I cannot thank you enough. I appreciate you and this community so very much! It takes a village to get it all pulled together but or crafty community seems to do just fine! Thanks for appreciation and please know you’re appreciated, too.
Oh, and I completely forgot – I love your beautiful background today! Outlining the petals with the Sharpie to make them stand out even more is beautiful. I know you have shared this before, but I always forget about it until you share it again. To remember it, I need to do it at least once. So I will try it this month! 🙂 Definitely a frame-worthy piece for a desk or office space (especially, if you have a small cubicle!). 🙂
Aweeeee smooches!
Beautiful and rich background! It’s amazing how the black marker intensifies the images.
Yes, the hop was pretty amazing!
Tasnim convinced me that I should try colouring only the background, the way you did on today’s project (except that you won’t stop here LOL).
Marianne x
Lol you know me too well, Marianne! Tasnim is right though, coloring just the background sure does make a fantastic and dramatic affect!!!
I love this background also. The black outlining certainly makes a difference and something I will try too. I am currently working on a piece inspired by your Day 2. I used 3 different stamp sets and colouring it with Prismacolor pencils. It’s taking a long time but, as you said, it’s worth it and I’m having so much fun! Thank you Kathy, for creating this community.
Yahoo Gabi! Having fun is the whole point!!! So glad you’re playing along! Happy coloring!
I must say Thank you for all your time and effort in doing a 30 day coloring and the fact this is your 10th Anniversary!! I try to outline my images before I color them in. I find that it help with reducing colors from bleeding out line I also have embossed the stamp image to help with this!! Enjoy your day!!
That’s interesting Beatrice – I never thought of it preventing bleeding but that sure does make sense. Very cool:
WOW Kathy, today’s card panel is beautiful too. I love how the black detail enhances an image so much. Just beautiful!
The hop was so inspiring, I had to finish it today as I didn’t want to miss anything. LOL
And YES, Nina’s card was a real STUNNER! Incredibly gorgeous!
The Hop was amazing, full of fun inspiration. I love that some did very elaborate beautiful complete cards, and some just colored for the relaxation of coloring… I need to do more of the later… Thanks as always Kathy for spurring on all this creativity.
Awe – you’re so welcome Carrie. I’m glad you got the gist of colorings purpose to be fun and relaxing. Happy creating!
rather in awe of all the fantastic coloring I’m seeing but am inspired to have a go soon.
Thank you for the fun of the hop, so much advice and inspiration was soaked up from that. I spent last night and this morning surrounded by my little stash and websites trying to work out what I could mix together to try and gain something like you had to do but my version. I do enjoyed the start you did. I’ve ended up buying three small floral stamp sets as mine are mostly cute images as I don’t do florals nearly enough justice yet and am waiting for the post on Friday but will have a go at other things till then. Thank you so much to you and your fabulous friends for all the advice you give, ideas and inspiration you share. Looking forward to day 4 x
Oh andrea thank you so much for your kindness. Florals are my jam but you could do something like this with so many other things. Just have FUN!!! Happy coloring and stamping. Thank you for your compliments and I’m thrilled you’re having so much fun doing the coloring challenge.
The hop was so inspiring. Thank you for continuing with the challenge and inspiring us. I like the idea of outlining the images and will try this out. Maybe I can finally color certain stamp I have that are too busy for my eyes.
A small group of my friends spent yesterday morning coloring – but I forgot to get pictures!! So much fun!!
Yay!!!! Having fun is the important part!!!
I have been so blown away looking at all the wonderful coloring and card ideas.
I even colored a pre-printed Suzy’s watercolor card (get on s.s.s.) with sharpies as a result of Kathy using them on her cards. And guess what – after coloring and highlighting etc. the card is so cute.
Thanks to all the talent and sharing to all who made this the best blog hop I’ve seen.
Awe you’re so so so sweetfor saying that, Marie. Thanks for making me smile.
I love your coloring style- uniquely yours and gorgeous!
Kathy, this is one of my favorite cards ever! Love the outlining & how the flowers stand out from the background but simplicity is still there. Great background stamp too!
Thank you so very much, Patt
Kathy this will be amazing! I’m going to try my hand at your background with that ‘smashing’ technique you shared yesterday! I don’t think I’ve ever Copic colored any background – in any way! So excited for Day 4!
Bless those generous sponsors!
=]
Yahooo to color smashing!!! Rock it, Michelle !
A great hop Kathy, I am going to finish it tonight.
I love this gorgeous Poppy field, great for coloring. I see that you make your nooks and crannies darker LOL, this is so you although I do it myself also lately ( learned from you).
Love to see what colour(s) you going to use with that awesome dark red (?)background.
Thanks for today and see you tomorrow.
Love your background today. So simple with such a big impact! I never would have thought to do this. You are such an inspiration.
Oh Dianne thank you so much for your kind words!
The blog hop was fun and so inspirational. Love the tips and techniques and just awesome stamps/dies and fun. Your stamped flowers will be stunning if it’s anything like the awesome background color. I cant wait to see what colors you use for the flowers. Hope you have an awesome wedding day.
Love that rich red color. The hop was so much fun and full of inspiration.
The hop was a lot of fun. Today I was able to spent a short time in my craft room and I did do some coloring. Love the red background on your card.
Thanks for sharing…
Thank you for doing the challenge. I have been watching your blog for years but haven’t participated until now. I am going to try to color every day. ^_^
Whooo hoooo Lynda! WELCOME – I’m so proud of you for gaining the courage to try to play along! The point it so have fun and not to be stressful! Happy coloring!
I’m excited to see how this looks once it is colored! 🙂
The hop was Awesome!!! A BIG THANKS to all who donated these fabulous prizes!!
Thanks Kathy for the great tips!
You have to be supremely confident to use a black marker so skillfully. Maybe I will try it just once on a smaller project. Thanks for the inspiration.
Yippeeee Cindy… You can do it!
Sim0lynatunn8ng. Love how you did this. Thank you for always inspiring.
Love your added definition. This is going to be wonderful. I know what you mean. We just got home from a trip to South Dakota with two more graduation invitations in my mail. Eek! I hope this isn’t a sign of how fast the summer will go. Happy coloring.
Love that background stamp. Can’t wait to pull some of mine out and try your trick.
Thank you for the hop, I enjoyed it. I never really thought of highlighting with black again, but it really worked on your stamp.
Christy Q said it eloquently! So ditto that, and so happy for you, and wow – what a cast of talent for the hop! Zoweee!
Oh Marcy – why thank you so much!
Fun hop – gorgeous background!
Loved viewing the hop and all the ideas it gave me. Thank
Fun Hop, I appreciate all the work you do to make this happen, they are always 30 days of awesome inspiration and encouragement to color!
That is so nice of you to say. That is my goal and it makes me so happy that you feel that way, Lagene. You’ve made my day!
You do so much!!! Love the deep rich color!! Finished the blog hop and loved HA that had Jessica’s gorgeous card!! I just received my order from altenew and used it to make today’s coloring and card!! These company’s have so many gorgeous images to play with!!
Wow! I am blown away by the way you further defined the flowers on the card with just a Sharpie. And then the addition of the background color really makes those flowers stand out. I love your coloring ideas!
Thank you, Margaret.
Oh wow. Thst is so very generous of all the sponsors. Such great companies in so many ways. Love the blog ho
You’re a master at adding definition! What a difference in the before and after pics!
Awe Elaine, thanks! I didn’t think people would be able to tell without seeing the before and after without any color.
AMAZING, Kathy, AMAZING!
Hi Kathy, Yes I had a lot of fun on the blog hop, everyone had awesome cards and projects and learned a few things which was great BUT what I didn’t like, it was so great and so much inspiration I ended up spending $250.00, yes, no lie, but it was fun. I have to get my camera fixed so I can start posting. Happy coloring everyone.
Oh no Tracey!!! I’ll take full responsibility for being the crafty enabler! I actually had the same problem!!! After I finished the hop my wallet was much thinner, too! LOLOL!
Hi Kathy, love how you did the background for this busy stamped image. I wondered if you have time can you tell me what you used to out line the image before you started adding the coloured background, a thin outline black copic pen? I suppose it depends on what you do the fill colour with. Anyway if you have time thanks Aileen
Hi Aileen. Yes you could certainly use any kind of Copic Multiliner however I also love the thin sharpie pens. They are inexpensive and not like the sharpie markers at all. I will attach a link below to show you what I’m talking about. Hope this is helpful!

I like the outlining.
Great idea to color the background. I love the look of the colored background and uncolored stamp – I’ll have to remember that!
Wow! Those flowers are a definite must have and the way the background was colored, boy, do those flowers pop!
You brought the flowers to life -the colors, outline, the pop of background color! Gorgeous!
Left! It just pops a little more. The right is nice, but I like the left a little more. Beautiful.
Love the coloring, but detest the outlining process. That is why I love the assorted stamp presses on the market that allow you to re-stamp in the same place until you get your image very dark.
Your added black lines make things really stand out. Well worth the effort!
I totally agree, Wendy. It is calming and fun for me to outline and the result at the end makes it totally worth it to me! Thanks for your wonderful compliments.
I really need to give this outlining a try. It makes such a difference
It was a great hop. I just finished it. I love this process. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
I loved the hop! I don’t know if I’ll ever go over all the lines in my image the way you do, but I admit that your background already looks fabulous just the way it is! Maybe someday . . .
No words for the talent out there!!
Aweeee – **blushing**
I didn’t finish the Hop, but I love all the inspiration and the sense of community and genuine love for and from our fellow card makers . TFS!
I couldn’t her with you more, Loly. This crafty community rocks!
I enjoyed the hop. Love the crafting community for their love, caring & generosity. Wish the entire world was full of crafters. How wonderful it would have been.
Yessssss – you’re so right! The world would then be filled with love and peace and creativity!!!!!!
I’m really enjoying the hop! I love seeing all the beauty everyone has created. Thank you!
Gorgeous background Kathy.
I like both but right just edges it for me. Thank you for the 30 day colouring challenge, I might not get any better but i feel i always learn something.
Your piece looks WONDERFUL with the accentuated lines, Kathy! SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PIECE, as it is. BUT, KNOW you will color it too! 😉 (Working backwards for now! LOL)
The hop was filled with so much fantastic inspiration! Looking forward to joining the challenge.
Hi Kathy!
I’m pretty new to all of this, and just found you this weekend! I love your techniques and share your love for coloring! Thanks for your great inspirational videos! I vote for the pic on the right, but both are beautiful!
I haven’t picked up a paint brush in years, but am getting the fever again watching you paint and color! Whoop!
Thanks so much,
Tina
Whoo hooo!!! WELCOME TINA! I’m so glad you found me and my blog, The Daily Marker!! I also have a YouTube channel and a very active Instagram account which I update often. I’m thrilled you’re excited about getting out some painting supplies!!! Happy coloring!!!
Love the black marker tip..great card !
What a great tip for adding detail and really making things pop!
I like the blod background color
Amazing background!!
This looks wonderful, Kathy! You have been very busy but still found time for colouring and that’s what it’s all about!
Kathy you are so blessed with such amazing talent! Every time I see one of your colorings I sigh a little. What a gift.
I have even interrupted my husband’s baseball watching to show him some of them….he’s impressed as well.
Oh my goodness I love it. Everything pops so wonderfully
Kathy the prizes are very generous indeed. I love seeing all the amazing creativity!
What a lovely creation 🙂
Love your background!
Thanks for this amazing hop!
Amazing difference adding the Sharpie! Thanks for continuing to inspire me!
I love the background of this card. I really love the whole card. It would be so fun to do this more than once in a variety of colors!
I so totally loved the blog hop! I had fun seeing what everyone did and everyone did an amazing job with what they did. I even saved a few to my computer to print out but I am having trouble with my printer and it’s out of service until I can get it fixed so here it sits. I thought if I printed some of them out I could try what they did.
I love the flowers that you are going to color! I am in love with flowers and so do the mutant ninja squirrels in my yard. That’s why I love to stamp them. The squirrels can’t get them and ruin them. If I was going to color those flowers, they would be multi-colored but I would use a lot of my favorite color in the whole wide world, yellow on them. I’d use some glitter too like maybe outline them in stickles. I could do so much with what you have. Hey, would you send me one so I can color it and then we can compare and see who did it better? LOL I can’t wait to see it all colored!
Today I got to color while my mom was at the chiropractor’s and I finished this really difficult picture, finally! Wait until you see it! It’s so beautiful and I am so proud of how it came out. I am going to take a photo with my computer and post it here.
I have to go on to the next day of the Coloring Challenge and see what you did. I can’t wait!
i never thought it was okay ( did i think there were rules?) to outline e erything, it givews a beautiful effect and I’m going with it now Funny how we get in ruts
