For today’s post I have a card and two framed pieces to share with you plus a video. Oh yeah I have been working hard behind the scenes and really enjoyed every minute of it.
The floral and the contemporary watercolor are the two stamped images that I watercolored & framed using some of the beautiful stamps from the new release. (The bowl of fruit I painted in a watercolor class.)
Let’s start with this card. I don’t know about you but, I always need cards for the men in my life that work for ANY Birthday! . I stamped random numbers from the “Birthday Numbers” stamp set to create the background and used masculine colors with my copic markers.
The candles from the “Birthday Boarders” and the die were the perfect paring for my card. The sentiment was stamped on vellum and glued on the card front. I love coloring twine for an added twist.
Let’s move on to my framed pieces. If I waited for the perfect pieced to hang on my wall it might not happen so I set out to create something that I enjoyed making and would be suitable to hang on my wall.
The new flowers called, “Beautiful Flowers 2” are breathtaking! Love them so much!
In my video I show you how I added the black accents to enhance my coloring on Beautiful Flowers 2. I went a little overboard with the black lol but, it does make a big difference and a little black can go a long way.
Having a few frames on hand is a bonus and it’s fun to create an art piece to jazz up my wall. I will do a post with some tips on hanging and will show you my studio wall. One recommendation is to buy your frame first so you can stamp your image to fit the frame opening.
I made a conscience choice to focus on the flowers in the center only. What do you think ? Do you like the look for simple flowers on the edges? Leaving a sweet spot when you are painting is easier than adding white later to the petals.
For my second art piece I used this super fun background stamp called, “Plank Background“. I stamped with this fade out ink (works for alcohol markers or watercoloring) and used some Tombow markers for vibrant colors.
Throughout STAMPtember Simon Says Stamp will be celebrating every day with posting exclusive collaborations, contests, prizes, special promotions, announcements, and more surprises! Check the Simon blog to see what they have planned every day. 😘
On another note my nephew is getting married next Friday and I am over the moon. I will do my best to share more Stamptember products and the winners of the coloring contest need to be announced soon. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Aways grateful for your visit. Many hugs, Kathy

These are all so beautiful Kathy and yes, I love that you consciously focus on the details for the center flowers and not so much on the outer ones. I think is draws the eye in to your focal images.

What a lovely compliment, Teresa! You made my day 🙂
Dot Freel says
In love with your card! So wish I had your coloring skills!
Kathy Racoosin says
You are so thoughtful, Dot! I appreciate your sweet compliment. I find that most people are much better than they think they are at coloring. I am constantly trying to improve my technique, but most importantly, forget about being critical of your own work and just have fun 🙂

I love your the pieces you made and rilling the nooks and crannies in the video is still awesome to see. I love to watch that part of your artwork, the whole piece came to life.

Sandra says
Love the tip about using black to create more depth in colouring the flowers.
Kathy Racoosin says
Thank you, Sandra! I tend to go overboard, but I have always loved outlining in black…even in my coloring books when I was a little girl 🙂

You are so sweet to say so, Heidi! I am addicted to adding black 🙂

Kathy Racoosin says
What a lovely compliment, Marzee! You made my day. I hope you already have the plank background in your cart lol 🙂
Phyllis Freese says
Beautifully colored floral image. It’s amazing how much of a difference the black shading in the nooks & crannies adds to this image. I thought it was funny that you referred to someone as a “real artist” because you are also a “real artist.” So sorry to hear about your Max. I know how difficult this is to a family to lose a beloved fur baby.
Kathy Racoosin says
Thank you for your condolences for my fur baby Max. You are so kind to take the time to say so, Phyllis.
I think adding the black in those corners and nooks is as much fun as coloring the image and just watching it come to life. You are correct, we are all “real artists” creating our own works of heART 🙂
Siobhan Burtlow says
Amazing! Your coloring is so inspiring!
Kathy Racoosin says
You are so kind, Siobhan! I am happy that I inspired you 🙂
Michelle Bradtke says

Amazing cards. Am CASEing all of them. Sorry to hear about your loss. They definitely leave a big hole in our hearts when they are gone. Take card.

I am so appreciative of your condolences for my Max. You are so kind 🙂

Beautiful pieces you showed. I do think you are 100% correct when you put the black in & filling in the nooks & crannies , you always seem to get it spot on.
Very sorry to hear of your loss of max, our hearts to put to you all. Take care.
Kathy Racoosin says
Thank you so much, Andrea! I really do think I sometimes go a little overboard with the black, but I suppose we each have our own style. It has always been my tendency to outline in black, even when coloring in my coloring books as a little girl.
I am so grateful for your words of sympathy for my dog Max. You are so thoughtful and your kind words mean more to me than you know 🙂

Teri S. says
Everything you create gets a “high five” from me & I especially love the birthday card you created with the Numbers & the Candles. As you said, great set to use for a guy as well. My heart hurts to hear of your Max passing away. It is so hard because you get to love them so much & they bring years of love & joy. Last time our dog was 12 we got a puppy & they spent a year together & while we shed many tears at the vets office, it was so very helpful to come home to a puppy who is delighted to see you.
Kathy Racoosin says
A virtual “high five”…how awesome, Teri! Thank you so much. I am glad you like my masculine candle card and I sincerely am grateful for your condolences for my precious Max. I am so happy that your heart doubled in size for a sweet puppy to love as a new family member 🙂

Lee says
Kathy, thank you so much for yet another illuminating and inspirational lesson in your art. The white “sweet spots, the black nooks and crannies and the wonderful depth and contrast — beautiful. It elevates this already gorgeous stamp into something worthy of being an art piece on the wall. Just lovely.
I am so sorry to hear about Max’s death. My heart goes out to you. I still sense the space my Pretty Girl took in my room and in my life. Time will help. Thank you for all you do to enrich our lives — as Max enriched yours.
Kathy Racoosin says
Lee, your heartfelt comment means the world to me. I wish you could see the smile on my face because you quoted from my video voice over…you took the time to truly watch AND listen. I know how busy everyone is in there own lives and so many crafty videos out on blogs and YouTube that it is understandable that people need to fast forward and hit the highlights. I really appreciate your lovely compliment for my framed stamp art and your loving words of sympathy for my dear Max. I am grateful for your kindness 🙂
