Hello Friends, How is your week going? I hope you are feeling the warmth of some sunshine! It’s pretty cold and grey here in Maryland.
Sorry about the quality of these photos the lighting wasn’t very good where I was sitting. This beautiful wreath is a holiday stamp set from Simon Says stamp called, “Mele Kalikimaka“what I love about this stunning wreath is … it’s great for ANY time of year!
Since I was just at Copic Boot camp I wanted to try and implement some of the shading that Jennifer Dove showed us. I was trying to think about the shadows and the placement of the shadows! Ack!
When I am traveling and teaching I reassure everyone that the light source doesn’t matter as long as there is a light and dark area .. and that pleases the eye.
In this photo I am putting down my first layer of color with C1, C3 & C5.
In this photo I am extending the grey area with C1. I added some black with a 0.03 super fine tip marker to the nooks and crannies. (Jennifer D. would warn me in class to use the black multiliner at the end because you can’t really color over the lines if you want to add more shading to your project.)
Since the light was so bad I couldn’t see the fade out ink so I decided to use my grey super fine tip 0.03 marker to darken and define the lines.
Adding more layers of grey with my Copics. At this point I was tempted to leave the bow in grey scale.
So as you can see I went for it!! What do you think? Coloring over the grey is easy because the shading is already done. Now I need to add some shadows to the shells but, I will wait until they are all colored first.
Have a great day and I will be back tomorrow. I am always … always grateful for your visit. Hugs, Kathy

It’s fabulous Kathy, what a great colouring. I had seen some pictures ( only looking not reading) on Instagram and thought you ware watercolouring this gorgeous wreath.
I love that you coloured over the bow with the don’t know a right name for this colour, pinkisch, vintage pink perhaps, one way or an other, I love it! Thanks for this great post, can’t wait to see it finished. See/hear you tomorrow.

Oh my gosh, this is so cool! I love how if you were Hawaiian where there is no snow or winter like where I live in CT, you could send this card. However, you could add something to make this look like Christmas in New England with snowflakes or white glitter stickles to look like snow or lots of red & green especially stickles. Otherwise, you could use it all year. I love stamps that aren’t just for one time of year, that can be used more than once a year.
I love how you colored it! The shading is beautiful! I wish Copics weren’t so expensive so I could get more to do what you are doing but I know you can do it with colored pencils & watercolors too. I have to try doing some shading in my cards. I have to scan a bunch of my cards here so you can see them. I just wish my printer was working better because I can’t print anything & scanning is hard too. It keeps saying my printer isn’t connected when it’s plugged in & always on.

Did you use the Spectrum Color blend pencils on this? Also where did you purchase them?
