Hello Friends!! How have you been? I hope this finds you feeling happy, crafty and celebrating spring or fall depending on where you live. I am popping in today to celebrate Altenew’s 5th Birthday and feeling lucky to participate in the Altenew Anniversary Blog Hop! To start at the beginning go to the Altenew Card blog.

I just mentioned that Altenew has been inspiring and enabling us and ME for 5 years I decided to make Altenew a Thank You card to celebrate instead of a Happy Birthday card. Today I am using the beautiful floral “Wallpaper Art” stamp set and the “Wavy Grid” stencil.
The plan was to make a bouquet of the Wallpaper Flowers but, it took me so long to paint the first flower … I went for a single stem with the leaves. Recently I purchased the Memory Misti but, it’s on special now lol. The point is … I am loving it even tho it’s BIG and to me it’s worth the price! I am able to make long and dramatic cards like this one today.
I stamped the flowers at the top of my watercolor paper so I could draw a very long stem. The card measures 8.8 x 3.5!
Opting to fussy cut the flower was a good one. Super easy! Inking the Grid stencil with this ink was fast and easy. It’s the first time I used those popular new brushes and they are pretty fantastic. (I would suggest splitting a package with a friend)
Picking up some of the texture of the watercolor paper is a great way to add some shading and those pencil highlights with a sharp pencil. For example, the blue accent color on the leaves is unexpected and fun.
It’s a wrap by adding the twine. (I color the twine with a copic marker to compliment the image.)

The painting on this card is gorgeous! Love Altenew and so cool that they are celebrating 5 years–I love their floral stamps, haven’t tried their inks but want to some day. I have found the combo of crafting and exercising to fun music has been helpful in getting over my “funk” from losing my Dad and having other huge stress events in my life. Also helpful is seeing such beautiful coloring from amazing folks like you!

Oh Kathy, this card is absolutely stunning in it’s simplicity! I love that big bold bloom & fabulous coloring! I am waiting on my stamps to arrive & as the dies we’re all gone right now, I am happy to know these are fairly easy to fussy cut. Love the touches of blue on the leaves! Fabulous!!
I think using only the one stem allows us to better see the beauty and detail of the stamp itself. And your coloring is brilliant. I love those blue-tipped leaves!

Wonderful card! Love that you made a long card instead of A2 size. You made the right choice going for a single flower over a bouquet. The single tall flower is perfect against this stenciled background. Having just one flower really allows that flower to shine.

I have to say I love the colors you used on this flower & this stamp in particular! I love it! The way you fussy cut the flower is so cool! I fussy cut some Easter eggs for Easter cards & they are so much fun to do! I want to do more fussy cutting as it’s fun & looks so cool! I wish you could see the cards I’ve made. I’ve done long cards both ways. You know me, the bigger the card, the more creative & colorful I can be & it works for you too I see. I love how you even colored the string on the flower! This is one great card!
