Hello Friends! Happy Weekend to you. I hope Momma Nature brings you some good weather and lots of craft time.
Are you starting to notice a difference in your coloring or getting more comfortable with your markers or another mediums? Are you enjoying making some “you” time? I sure hope so.
For today’s coloring I was in the mood for some water and these butterflies “Elegant Asters” from Gina K. Designs were inked up already with the amalgam ink so it was easy.
The ink is not faint and that’s what I love about it. I use it all the time and it can disappear if I want it to by, putting a pencil line on top of the ink etc. In this case I like how it shines through the watercolor. Looks like I used more Tombow markers than I did.
When this was dry I added black sharpie to the body of the butterflies. You can see the same butterflies here.
If you are in Virginia the Dulles Expo Center is having a show. I ran up there today to give Connie some pins to pass out to you locals while supplies last.

You asked if we are becoming comfy with our coloring. I’ve never colored or participated in your challenge until the last one. I can tell you that I sure notice a difference! Choosing color shades, sharpening my pencil (you’d be so proud!), & not being so hesitant are the improvements for me. Thanks for introducing me to the joy of coloring! P.S. Did you notice that your 1st pic is upside-down? I’ve done that a lot with my IPad photos!
Kathy Racoosin says
Lynda! LOL, yes it is upside down. Oh well.
I am proud of you for keeping those pencils sharpened! And I am thrilled that you have started participating in the coloring challenges 🙂

Kathy, your butterflies are BEAUTIFUL! Using the Amalgam Ink just adds to the delicacy of the butterfly images! SO LOVELY!!! I HAVE BEEN working away here on “coloring!” I SHOULD post it SOON! 😉 HUGS!!!
Kathy Racoosin says
You are so kind to say so, Becky! I am addicted to amalgam ink. Please post your work soon; I’d love to see it 🙂

Awesome Kathy, so far the Elegant Asters stamp set by Gina K. is my top favorite from the stamps that where released so far this year. Unfortunately I can’t buy always what I like, but I think everyone has that “problem” LOL.
Whe getting a heat wave this week and I don’t know if I like that. We’ll see.
Thank you so much for sharing your awesome card, see you tomorrow and have a great weekend. Happy colouring.
Kathy Racoosin says
Henriette, I agree! One of my favorite releases too. I have a “50% rule” before buying a stamp set; if I don’t think I will use at least half of the images in a set, I don’t buy it, no matter how cute some of the images are. Sometimes it is hard to turn down, but I can’t buy them all 🙂
Stay cool! We are starting a 12 day heat wave with very high heat index and poor air quality.

I am so in love with butterflies but did you know they are going extinct? I can’t remember the last time I saw a butterfly in my yard. I used to plant Lantana’s, the butterfly & Hummingbird flower. I never got any Hummingbirds & the very few butterflies I got were very small & tiny. I looked on-line & saw they were butterflies not moths. I was lucky if I saw 2 all summer. That’s why I love to use butterflies on my cards & color them & that’s why I love yours. I love the colors you used & how delicate they look.
I made my first Christmas card for the year 2019! People said to me You’re starting them now? I make so many, I don’t know how to make a simple card & everyone gets a different card so I have to start them now! I also made a get well card for a friend who has frozen shoulder after a surgery. She is in a lot of pain 24/7 so I thought the card would cheer her up. I will post them here.
Thank you for showing us your beautiful card! I love it!
Kathy Racoosin says
Hi Gail! I am glad you enjoy butterflies too! Congratulations on starting your Christmas cards. I try to make one (or more) each week of the year, then by November I have dozens. It eliminates a lot of stress during those busy late autumn days. I can’t wait to check out your coloring entries after I get caught up on my comments 🙂

Kathy your butterflies are beautiful and I always loved that quote/sentiment, it is so encouraging!
Kathy Racoosin says
Teresa, I have a soft spot for sentiments; I agree that this one is near and dear to me as well! I am glad you like the butterflies; so much fun to color when I stamp with amalgam ink first 🙂
TracyM #6773 says
MAGICAL butterflies and colouring!
I think I’m getting more comfortable with my Copics … I still overthink things and struggle with tiny elements and confess that I have had to refill my “0” colourless blender 😉
Kathy Racoosin says
Yay, Tracy! That is awesome news. And the colorless blender is a great tool; don’t be ashamed to use it 🙂
