Hellllooo Friends! Happy Monday to you. Such a fun weekend and pretty dang busy too. How was yours?
For Day 24. I am pretty much copying a Rachel Kozlowski plate from West Elm. Isn’t this plate soooo awesome!! On another note this sketch for my mom so I am hoping it’s ok. I did reach out her Rachel and I have not heard back if it’s ok for me to share.
Rachel has a great Etsy store here and I think she does commission work too. I find her Instagram pretty inspiring too. Check that out here.
I try to pick up Rachel’s plates at West Elm when possible and I have a few of her kitchen towels that I throughly enjoy using. I just order ed this from her Etsy shop plus a few prints. Love them all!!
It was pretty quick to sketch the image. The background is a random pattern I drew with a straight edge and a pencil.
While the family was at our house and chatting I needed something to do so I grabbed a few Tombow markers and began painting the background.
The hard part is NOT finishing but, sigh that’s how it goes sometimes. Have a great day and see you tomorrow. Hugs, Kathy

Cutting a background the old fashioned way , I love ❤️ it !
LOL, Tracy! Thanks so much 🙂
OMG Kathy this is going to look great and I am sure your Mom will cherish it.
Thank you, Teresa! That means a lot to me. I am thinking of you and your plans for your long-time friend and the celebration in a few days 🙂

Oh, Becky, you are so kind! I am grateful for your sweet compliment. You made my day 🙂
Great background!!
Thanks, Tara! I appreciate that 🙂
I’m sure Rachael won’t mind you sharing her gorgeous work & site with us all as you’ve clearly given lots of links to her. I am liking the strong lines in the background that you’ve added in & can’t wait to see the finished article. My weekend was unfortunately brought to a stand still by chronic pain again so no crafting got done but I did order a new craft magazine, does that count !
I hope your right, Andrea! After all, the best compliment you can give someone is wanting to emulate them. Enjoy your new magazine! I hope it takes your mind off of the pain you are feeling 🙂
Super cool!! I can’t wait to see the finished project!!!
You are so kind, Maureen! Thank you very much 🙂
This is again stunning Kathy, I can’t wait to see the rest of the image coloured.
Nice blue background colours.
Can you still erase the pencil lines after you have coloured over it?
Thanks for your post, have a great day and I see you tomorrow. Happy colouring.
I am really glad that you like it so far, Henriette! Yes, I can erase the pencil lines. I am so happy that you are enjoying the challenge 🙂

I appreciate that so much, Gab! Thank you 🙂

That is sweet of you, Rosali! I am having fun with him 🙂
Fun plate and FABULOUS sketch!
LOVE your progress so far and think the background is looking AWESOME!
Tracy, her plates are awesome, aren’t they? I am a huge fan of Rachel’s work. I am grateful for your sweet words 🙂
I like what you’re doing so far. I like the colors & I can’t wait to see it all finished. I’m working on a mandala & because it is so intricate, it is taking me forever to do it! Someday I will finish it. My mom is going to be 92 this July 29 so I am having everyone on-line make her a birthday card because 92 is so special! Please feel free to send her one if you’d like. You can have my addy so. you can mail it to my mom, just ask.
Thank you so much, Gail! I know what you mean about some mandalas…there is one by Hero Arts that I love, but it always takes at least 6 hours to color the whole thing because it is so intricate. Happy early birthday to your mom 🙂
can’t wait to see it all finished.
Thanks, Fiki! Me too 🙂
Oh wow I love the background! So inspiring!
Xoxo Olga
I am always happy to hear that I inspired you, Olga! You are the sweetest of bloggie friends 🙂
I love the background you have created for your sketch, It is fantastic and I’m going to have to create something like that soon. I always forget that I can do stuff like that rather than using a stamp. Thank you for the inspiration.
PS – I’m looking forward to seeing the finished picture. I can’t wait to see how you coloured the flamingo.
I totally agree – NOT finishing is so hard! I’ve always had a hard time with that. Trying to fit projects into the few minutes I get at a time now that I have a baby has helped. 🙂 I love how this one turned out in the end!
Ok, so I’m going from the back of the magazine to the front, I’ve seen and loved the finished product first. Now I see how your did that wonderful background 😉
This is so cool!
