Hello Friends, How are you? Having a good week? So yesterday I just couldn’t bring myself to post. I picked up a nasty cold … probably on the airplane and honestly for the first time in my life it was hard to color! Gasp! Below you will see what I opted to do.
Also I am sharing a few photos from the weekend away with some of you at Village Paper & Ink. I always come away feeling so pumped, inspired, blessed and grateful!
This is my watercoloring today and I can’t wait to finish this! Sarah Simon who is a watercolorist referred to as The Mint Gardner on Instagram just released her new book and boy she really breaks watercoloring down step by step in her book!
This I posted on Instagram for yesterday’s “coloring” Knowing that I can do this opens up a new world with digital prints! This revelation comes at a great time because Power Poppy is will be having a new digital release soon!
I have the tear sheet under the watercolor paper and I am pressing it up to the window to trace it. You can use a light box or the window.
NOTE* the tiny hands ha ha. My nail polish is chipping so my tiny hands came in handy (thanks for this gift from Gina K. Designs)!
So in the book there are tear sheets to do exactly what I did and there are several to choose from.
For my watercoloring today I had paint left in my palette so I added water in the palette to create a first my layer of color.
OK TIME TO SHARE THESE PHOTOS! Let me preface this … I am not good at taking the time to get photos. I am in the zone and it’s the thing furthest from my mind.
When Kristina gets out her selfie stick it comes in handy! Thank YOU Kristina! I realized it’s hard to see everyone and it was not that easy to arrange everyone due to space. We did the best we could and I am glad we managed something. (this was Friday)
Everyone was thrilled that Jennifer and Kristina were there! Sometimes the girls can sneak away and it’s always awesome when they can. Gina from Gina K. Designs and I were thrilled to say the least!!
On Saturday Heidi from Simon Says Stamp was able to come. It makes me so happy when everyone can see how passionate Heidi is about crafting & this industry PLUS I love that people can see how funny Heidi is too! Heidi also takes orders really well or from me anyway lol. I found the pink bunny ears on the floor and told her to put them on! Heidi happily obliged!
Thank YOU all that came out I am so grateful and my heart is so full. I get all giddy when you guys show up, listen and apply my coloring tips. Gina and I raised a few thousand for the local food pantry and that makes me happy too!
Rina (Gina’s daughter) and Simon (InkLipse) collaborate on some videos and have a podcast series. Rina, I and our tiny hands made a card! Coming soon! You can watch Rina on YouTube here and Simon on YouTube here.
Gina’s store called Village Paper and Ink in Greendale, Wisconsin is beautiful, spacious and inspiring PLUS has such a great vibe!
All of the merchandise is displayed so pretty!
Lunch is always included at my venues. I love this photo of Gina! How’s that for service lol. Gina was offering seconds to who ever wanted.
Gina’s other half is Tom and he’s just as awesome as Gina. Matter of fact they used to be in a band together! I love how Tom serenades everyone during lunch! Yes please!
This photo I pulled from Jennifer’s Instagram. I can’t remember why Heidi was laughing so hard but, there was lots of laughs and it was awesome! I called Heidi up because she has a loud voice and my voice was waining. *I had food poisoning that morning and when I was throwing up the girls were in a tizzy trying to figure out who would teach what etc. Because it was food poisoning once all that icky was out I was ok beside a raw throat.
That’s a small summary of the weekend and I hope you can see the love! Every single person was so sweet, kind and lovely. I know some of you can’t make my Road Trips and I am working on a way to bring it to you another way. Until then ….
See you tomorrow. Hugs, Kathy

Such fun activities with most talented artist/crafter around! I love the botanical colouring.
What an awesome time you all had…. well, except for the throwing up part.
Oh I am sorry you got food poisoning. Not fun. Here is to a healthy Thanksgiving
It looks like you had lots of fun on the weekend. Thank you for sharing the photos. Shame you got food poisoning. Throwing up is no fun.
How fun is that?! All of the smiles made me smile, too :). (PS…you look so GOOD for getting over food poisoning, ack!)!
Sorry to read about the food poisioning but it looks like you recovered and got down to some color business! What a fun weekend! I am enjoying your coloring and I have been coloring too; not well because of the medium I chose but trying. Hope you are feeling normal now and your coloring is going great. I like the big green leaves and the little hand holding the papers down! So fun. And I think your photos are quite fun and produce great smiles!
Eventful weekend!! Looks like a lot of fun though and I love the painting!
I so enjoyed this post, Kathy. I wish I were one of the “group” sometimes and could be with all of you at the same time. So, it’s nice to look at all those photos and dream. Hope you’re all well soon!
Looks like you had a great time in Wisconsin! Feel better soon!
Looks like a fun filled crafty weekend!
Sorry about the food poisoning. Glad it all eventually turned out alright. It looks like you all had a wonderful time. Let us know when you’re going to be in Cleveland. I’d love to attend. Looking forward to seeing the mint leaves. Also, I’m curious about the small hands…please elaborate. Thanks again for your inspiration. Hope the cold goes away quickly. Chicken soup and rest.
Looks like such a fun weekend with some of my favorite people! Sorry you’ve been sick and I hope you’re getting some rest and feeling better!
Your coloring is awesome! I will have to check out that book.
SO SORRY to hear you were ill while away & now still, Kathy! MAYBE, it was the beginning of the bug you caught??? It’s NEVER FUN to be sick! ESPECIALLY, when you’re away from the comforts of home! Your water color looks LOVELY!!! LOVE the colors you’ve used! CAN’T WAIT to see it FINISHED!!! I’m doing WALL ART as you suggested a few challenges back! SUCH FUN!!! INKY HUGS TO GET WELL!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)<3
Looks like a wonderful weekend! I know I had a great time when you came to Hero Arts in CA. Thanks for the tip about tracing. Sorry you are under the weather, hope you’re better and coloring soon!
Seems like it was a whole lot of fun!
Thanks for this awesome post keeping us all up to date!
Looks like you all had a lot of fun except for the food poisoning. Thanks for the photo share.
Oh so sorry you were and are sick. Loved the pictures from the great weekend. So many of the people involved in creating art are wonderful people. Your leaves are gorgeous. Who needs more!
Sorry u got the nasty food poisoning!! Other than that it looks like you all had a fabulous time. I’m going to have to move somewhere closer to all the action! 🙂 Here in western NE there are not many crafty get togethers. I do love all the inspiration on the awesome blogs tho!! Thanks for all the inspiration!
Great Tracing idea!
Good start up with green, can’t wait to see final outcome… Hope it will looks gorgeous as always.
Such fun amongst all super crafty friends, good to see you all together!
The botanical leaves are looking so beautiful!
It looks like you all had a blast!!!!
Makes me so envious! So much talent in one place!
Looks like so much fun!!
I am green with envy… what a great gathering! I have been watching Jennifer and Kristina from the start of my card making some 10 years ago. Love them so much! To have Heidi and Gina’s daughter and Simon all at the same place, how many times can that possibly happen? The start to this project looks amazing. I love that you can trace on that heavy watercolor paper. Going to check out that site. Thanks for sharing these pics it really is so great to see how much you are loved. Glad you’re feeling better.
Lots of fun on the Weekend!!!
Gotten a bit behind, due to a stubborn cold. but, today I’m up and coloring. Boy, that gathering looks like it was so fun!
Looks like you had an amazing weekend. Lovely that you could all get together.
OMG !!! Everyone was there!!!!! How lucky were those participants!!!??? Jennifer, I adore your floral top! I get sick on some food or water every single time we travel. We never drink bottled water at home but I have to when we travel as I can’t risk the change to local water treatment. Hugs you for being such a trooper Kathy.
So fun!!! (Minus the food poisoning..)
This looks like such a fun time!! Sorry you were ill and hope you recover from your cold quickly.
Wonderful to see your dedication to this 30 day challenge especially when you’re feeling not the greatest. Last month I had a very very bad bacterial sinus infection with three days of fever which left after antibiotic kicked in and left me with no appetite and bedridden. Then few days after that to recover. So my plans for 30 day challenge hasn’t happened yet because every thing else was backed up. At least my thought of what I wanted to do is still there. Lol. Thanks for sharing
Glad you are recovered. That doesn’t sound like fun! No rules, no worries — just color when you can and enjoy! 🙂
Looking so beautiful! What an amazing weekend! I am sorry you are not feeling well and I hope you feel better!
Thanks for sharing this post!!! What a fantastic event with all these amazing ladies!!!
I’m sorry to hear you were ill! I hope you will be fine soon!!!
Your weekend looks like time well spent relaxing and recharging. I think that’s why God gave us friends!
This project is looking fabulous already! Sorry you had food poisoning during such a fun event, but it’s great to hear that you had friends there with you to support you and to assist! 🙂
Ohh my that Botanicals book look stunning Kathy and the one you tear out of it is so gorgeous. You are such a great colour artist,I can’t wait to see how you will finish this.
The weekend photos are so great, what a great group of wonderfull ( and my favorite craft) girls. So much love between the five of you and that shows.
Thanks for your great watercolouring and weekendphotos, happy colouring and “see” you tomorrow.
It looks and sounds like you had an amazing weekend–sorry about the food poisoning
but it sounds like you had lots of back up people who could help out. I’ve met Gina, she’s awesome. I hope to get to her store someday. I don’t have many friends who are crafty, I wish I had more crafty friends. I’m hoping I can make your AZ road trip.
Thank you Kathy for some more exciting recommendations , I purchased my very own copy of this watercolor publication , it arrives tomorrow ♀️☺️ ,
in spite of the health issues, it looks like a wonderful, funny, productive weekend with old friends and new. I haven’t been able to contribute much to the 30 Day Challenge this time. I too had an ear infection and could’t hear – literally – for almost 3 weeks. However, I may get one in before 30 November. I did manage to get 3 in at the beginning. Hahahaha. I plan on getting that book too.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and stay well.
I hope you are feeling better. Just color whenever you can and have fun! 🙂
Looks so cool ❤️
I am sooooo jealous of everyone that got to go!!! LOOKS amazing! With such great ladies!!!
Looks like a blast!
I did not know that one could trace a design on watercolor paper. That’s a great a tip and a game changer. Looks like your trip to GKD was loaded with fun. Sorry it included a cold. Prayers for a quick recovery!
I love to see pictures of all of you. You look like you are having so much fun!! I will have to check out that botanical book. It looks so interesting!!
It looks like y’all really ARE having fun. I’d have been teary at that kind of support from busy friends who aren’t exactly next door, too. Love your leaves, love everything you do. Get well, STAY well.
Love the botanical coloring! Such a fun event!
Glad you had a great time feel better!
Wowwww!!! I wanna party with you guys!! So much talent and big hearts in that room. Looked like an awesome time, except for the throwing up of course. Glad you recovered and carried on. ❤️❤️
Wow! You guys all look like you had a fabulous time. You are so lucky to have such wonderful and crafty friends. I’ve met some wonderful fellow crafters here in NZ through my hobby.
PS – Love the colours you have started to use on your pic.
So much talent in one room! *swoon* Lovely coloring
Oooh, what fun photos and a wonderful crafty time! So sorry you got sick but hope you’re on the mend soon..and those tiny hands are hilarious!
Could that room be more full of talent? Your water coloured leaves are lovely. I’m sorry to hear you got food poisoning but it looks like your weekend was a good one nonetheless!
How sad that you got sick on your trip but I hope you can take a little time to relax for at least a week or two. These photos are awesome, and I love seeing all those smiling faces! Can’t wait to see how your watercoloring ends up.
I would love to join you in one of your road trips…crossing fingers for an international trip to Australia one day. You are such a professional, if you hadn’t mentioned it. I wouldn’t have picked that you had been unwell. Your image is stunning and starting to look amazing, I can’t wait to see where you take it.
Oh, how nice to have a fun time away. Not if you’re sick though.
Look at all the fun your having… thanks for sharing your photos. Love all the big smiles.
I love they way you are coloring those leaves. The color combo is perfect. Cant wait to see more.
Looks like you all have so much fun! Wish I could be there and meet you!
Girlfriend time is always good for the soul.
Ohh to just to see the gang of favorites come together! Looking at the photos just makes me so happy ! I think if I was ever in one of these classes I would hardly be able to the pay attention… coz I would be so giddy with excitement ..
But for now I am equally happy reading this post ❤️
Looks like you have been having a blast at Gina’s. And I love the colours you’ve used for your first layer.

The colors y
Oi painted for the leaves are so pretty 🙂
What an awesome weekend with crafty friends, so much inspiration around you in the people as well as that fabulous book! Looking forward to watching your progress on this image … it would be a really big coloring project for me at this point.
awesome pics
Oh my! It looks like you had SO MUCH FUN! I would love to go to WI to see Gina’s store. I always learn so much during each 30 day challenge…thank you for that! I’m sitting at my local Starbucks enjoying a nice warm latte on a cold, wet day. I’m wondering if you might be inspired to create another card from a Starbucks cup this year? That’s always a fun creative exercise too!
It was a great time and I learned so much. Thank you Kathy for your generosity of time to travel and teach us all.
Dear Kathy
Thanks for sharing all teh photos of all teh lovely ladies and gents. l recognised Gina, Jennifer, Simon and Gina’s daughter Rina. It would have been real fun. Hope ytou have fully recovered.
Thanks for the encouragement you give and the lovely coloring with which you inspire us. Really appreciate your hard work. Love it all. May you and your family be blessed always.
Looks like a lot of fun!! Sounds like you had a rough time prior though. Food poisoning yuck!
Oh how I wish I could come see you in person, but I don’t think you make it to eastern PA. It looks like you had a great time and I’m sure the lucky ladies who were there learned a lot! What a bonus that Jennifer, Kristina, and Heidi could be there too! Thanks for sharing!
Omg! that looks amazing already. I love it.
Also, I hope you feel better now.
That looks like a fab fun event (apart from the being sick part!) Well done on raising so much money for your food pantry!
This is really neat!
One day, I’ll come to one of your events!!! This looks like so much fun!!!
Being sick sux
Thank you for sharing about your weekend! It sounds like you all had an amazing time!
Xoxo Olga
Looks like you had a fabulous weekend (food poisoning aside). Any chance of a road trip to Australia???
Great tip about tracing. It looks good so far! The weekend looks like it was so much fun. Thanks for all the pictures!
Thank you Kathy for all the updates of your road trip! So glad you and everyone had an awesome time. Your pics and stories made me feel I was actually there even though I wasn’t ❤❤❤
Oh my gosh, it looks like you guys had a blast! I wish I could have been there & you had live music? Wow! Did you guys do a lot of coloring or were you just fooling around all the time? LOL
I love how you did those leaves. Do you know my dad has a light box? it plugs in & it has to be from the 50’s or 60’s. It’s a plastic box that you plug in. My dad was not an artist. He did leather crafting & painted some of it but he didn’t do any coloring or painting like we do so I’m not sure what he used it for. I’m not even sure it works but I will have to try it. My dad did have 2 books of tracing paper but I don’t know what he did with them because they are all blank. I might have to check all of this stuff out!
Goodness, I live within a couple of hours of the store, next time….. I will not miss it!!! Looks like fun was had by all….
Except for the part about food poisoning!
So nice to share your pasión with this beautiful Family ! The leaves are so amazing
Seems like you had lots of fun! But sorry to hear about your food poisoning. I hope you are feeling better!
FUN times 🙂
… except for the food poisoning!
Looks like you guys had a blast!! And Gina’s shop looks amazing!
It looks like you had a blast!! So happy for you!!
