Hello Friends, How are you doing? We are entering such unchartered territory and I hope and pray we all will be ok. I know that sounds naive but, one has to hope and I am trying to stay in that place of hope.
Can honestly give me your opinion? I have been doing a lot of thinking and wanted to see if I could raise a little money for the food banks. I am just throwing this idea out and not sure if it’s a good one.
Here goes … would you be interested in winning a piece of my art? Such as this piece I am working on (measures 14 x 24) or winning anything you have seen during the coloring challenge?
The only catch would be … to qualify for the giveaway you would need to make a donation to a food bank of your choosing. Any amount would qualify you to enter for the giveaway.
Is that silly? To confusing? Way to much to think about at this point in life?
PLEASE BE HONEST and tell me your thoughts or ideas in the blog comment area.
This is what I finished drawing last night on a block of paper (Arches 110 lb) with a thick Sharpie.
This is how it looks while I am drawing it. Thank you in advance for your thoughts and opinions. I will be painting this over the next few days. I find it very meditative to draw and paint. Stay tuned for the finished art and please stay safe and healthy. Hugs, Kathy

I think it is a sweet idea.
Mostly I am glad to participate in this challenge as I need to focus on something else other than life. BTW my 13 old son thinks this color challenge is cool and is coloring with me about half of the time. He is mostly using my Christmas stamps because it’s “old” to color flowers. LOL

♥♥Kathy♥♥ You have such a good soul! I think it’s a brilliant idea.

I think the idea is wonderful. But I know in our area that our food banks are closed. That’s why it’s so difficult for families who are in need. I’m not sure if our food bank has online (money) donations. Just thinking about logistics.

What a wonderful idea, Kathy! The donation idea is awesome because many folks don’t have the cash to give/buy a raffle ticket/etc. right now. I do have one suggestion. I’m wondering about your followers who may not be able to donate because they have to access the food bank themselves. Could that be a way to enter, too? Maybe they could take a picture of themselves at the food bank or with goods dropped off to them and privately email it to you? There is a lot of stigma around accessing these services and maybe this would be a nice way of saying “we are all in this together”. Just a thought. 🙂 Thank you for your generous heart. <3

That is an amazing idea and very considerate. My family was in that category until last year when I was finally able to go back to work outside the home (both kids are medically compromised and all our funds went to medical). We are a little precarious right now with both my husband and I shut down from work,,, but we much better than before. I love this idea!!!

I am so glad to hear you are in a better position now. Financial stress is some of the very worst, alongside health stress. May you and your family emerge from this all happy and healthy!

Kathy, I love the idea! Even if food banks are closed, we can still donate because, once they open, there will be a huge need! I imagine alot of perishable items will be tossed. Another idea is to send cards to the elderly because they are feeling isolated right now.

I think it’s a great idea but how to co ordinate when the food banks are closed is hard to know. Especially as it is going to be needed Now while people are unable to get about and have no income. We are dreading it-happening here as we are self employed so no work no income and the big worry is how long this will go on too.

You’ve got the best heart, and it’s another example of it!

I think it’s a good idea. I’m sorry I can’t donate anything right now. I was exposed to someone who has Covid-19 so I’m in isolation. I don’t have any symptoms and I’m not worried. I’m pretty healthy. If you do it at a time when I can donate I will be sure to participate. I still have a card you made that I won on your blog about 5 years ago.

You have a kind heart! This is a great idea. My daughter works in a care center for trauma children that all have dcf cases/history. Her center is closed, she who uses the food shelf herself, isn’t worried about her income or food for herself, which is scary as a mom, I do what I can for her but she is proud, she is worried for these kids, the only meals most get is when they are in daycare. It’s sad really. Even without the pandemic, people are hungry. We live in a country that has an abundance of everything, how can this happen? Even if you did not give away some of your beautiful art, you have a large platform that you just brought this issue to the forefront and that means so much! Count me in, with or with out the art, and know your encouragement for other to give back is a kind hearted gesture.

I think it’s a GREAT idea Kathy; we are artists from ALL OVER so think of all the donations that could be made throughout the United States, maybe even abroad!!

It is a lovely generous thought in concept… being in my 70’s, many thoughts have come to mind since all of this Covid-19 started. Right now my husband and I are staying very close to our home and hoping that we can survive this with no big bumps. He has heart problems and so far I’m okay. I love this idea and hope you get lots of response. There are still plans falling into place and I know there are loads of families that will need help at some point. Right now I pray that things will improve and we will all be better for this experience.

I like the idea to help the local community. Right now might be a bit difficult for organizing since a lot of areas are locked down and are currently discouraging contact. It might be possible to give donations instead by online means.

I think it’s a great idea. There was something you had on your blog not too long ago that I was coveting. Monetarily it’s going to be a bad time for most of us. Hopefully when this all comes to an end we will all have extra canned goods to donate and prayerfully it will fatten the food banks which would be great. We in the hurricane zones normally purchase some foods to stock when the season starts (which is June 1)I will say it’s difficult right now to try and purchase many items. I went today just to find bread and milk. I couldn’t find any. I wouldn’t mind supporting some of the smaller businesses but they have to give a little to help us, too. A sale, free shipping, just some little something. We need to help each other and not be hoarders or price gougers. Something like this virus should bring out the good in people not the bad. Off the soap box, sorry.

It is always reassuring in trying times when caring people reach out to others. You have a wonderful heart Kathy! Great idea, too! Hugs!

That is such a lovely idea. Many people worldwide are being significantly impacted by the Covid-19 situation and not all of them or their loved ones have gotten sick.

What a wonderful idea, Kathy! So many people will be short of food to say nothing of having money for cleaning products. Most areas have more than one food bank and make it very easy to contribute either products or money. It’s heartwarming to see people helping people. The blessings multiply!

I just took 2 grocery bags full of non-perishable items to the Food Bank collection barrels in our Independent Living Building…March is our donation month for this. Such a good idea as there are many hungry families – especially right now. We are so blessed and sharing is good for both the giver and the recipient.
Your project is sooooo interesting – can’t wait to see it finished! TFS!!!!
Paper Hugs,
Jan

Wow! Kathy I think that’s a really cool design. I hope you don’t mind, but I copied the blank one. I think it’ll make a great background for one of Dyan Reaveley’s
stamps.

Great idea, and what a beautiful incentive to give locally!

Kathy, you are so wonderful to consider this. I think it is an excellent idea. Not all food banks are closed. Here in Canada they are still open
and needing more volunteers as the older folk are staying inside.

I love this idea and would definitely donate

I think its a wonderful idea Kathy. I read some posts telling the food banks are closed, well here in The Netherlands they are also because the most people who work there are retired, so a group that is more susceptible to this virus, and there is almost no food donattions because of the hoarding from people. But now they give people coupons they can use to get the needed food in the supermarket. So that’s why I think this is a good idea.
Your work is looking awesome Kathy, thank you so much for sharing, happy colouring, keep safe and healthy and I see you tomorrow.
