Hello Friends, It’s me again! Thank you for your visit today and everyday! So how are you really? The more normalcy we add to our day the better if possible. I am glad that most of us have the habit of coloring for the past 20 days. Coloring and deep breaths are a good way to lower the stress level.
Soooo this piece is finally finished. I will be honest I don’t love it but, I did love creating it so that counts for something. Some of you might ask about these luscious Daniel Smith watercolors. If you are curious for a more affordable way rather than buying those expensive tubes of paint … check out this older post. In a nut shell Lydia from Understand Blue (who’s a hoot and a gem) puts these sets together so you get more bang for your buck.
Here it is in the horizontal orientation. In the next week I will be organizing the giveaway with other pieces that I have painted. Thankfully for your awesome feedback the giveaway will be more broad rather thank just a donation to the food bank.
It does look different in the vertical orientation. I have gotten a few emails about the paper that I like to use. Lydia actually is the one who taught me that good quality paper make the biggest difference. Arches paper is 140lb. and can hold a lot of water and that’s all that I am using.
Every little orb shape has some eyelash lines on it. I fell asleep last night drawing the lines and they became really long!! This morning I was able to fix them with my black Sharpie acting as an eraser.
Before the coloring challenge is over I will create a video so you can see how easy it was to make this. If I painted in all blues or in any monochromatic colors this would look entirely different. I used a regular Sharpie and a fine tip sharpie for the eyelash lines.
One more perspective. This painting is so large it can be used as a background. My phone is in the “portrait” mode so it blurs the background …. looks kinda cool. If you missed the Happy Hello Bird post click here.
See you tomorrow and I am praying you all are good! Hugs, Kathy

I think it turned out pretty cool. The longer you look the more dimension… Stay calm and create, that’s my new mantra!

Wow, wow, wow! This is really amazing. Your colors are so lovely and I love the stitched detail that added so much more to this gorgeous piece. Your hand and wrist must be so sore by now with all of this work.

You did a great job. I love the eyelashes you put on your projects. I wish I could remember to do that too.

WOW! What a therapeutic painting! Every time I look at it, I see something different. When it’s horizontal, I see a woven basket with brilliant colors! When it’s vertical I see a magical cave. I wonder what’s inside? Great creation…thanks for taking our minds off the quarantine. Hugs!

I think it’s great, still don’t know why you don’t like it.
All the colours must make you happy and it’s something entirely different than you use to make. I looks gorgeous.
Thank you so much for sharing, happy colouring, stay safe and healthy and see you tomorrow.

Wow, Kathy! A labour of love – and I’m glad you loved the time spent doing it. It’s beautiful, and I love how different it looks depending on the orientation.

Day, I forget, of the forced isolation (My immunity is weak from needing radiotherapy & chemotherapy years ago, it has never been the same)
This in one of the most stunning artworks or examples of coloring I have seen for a very long time!
I was wondering if you have done the video on it yet? I’d love to see the progression of your coloring. I was wondering if you used any kind of stencil just to give a guideline on the spiral? Or was it all freehand? Awesome no matter how it was accomplished.

I forgot to say for you to take care of yourself and your family in this very scary time.

Everyone seems to like your picture but it’s not one of your best. I don’t know why I think that but maybe because you do such amazing coloring & artistic things & I feel like this is just so basic for you. I know you drew this & that’s so cool but I’m not really digging it. You know me, I am very honest. If I like something I will say so. If I don’t I will say something also. On Facebook if I don’t like something I will say why I don’t like it but I’ve never offended anyone. Usually, I don’t say anything at all. I hope you’re not offended. I can’t wait to see you get back to the regular stuff.
