Hello Friends, How are you doing? Were you able to keep your mind busy with other things this weekend and maybe get outside? We watched the new movie INVISIBLE MAN Saturday night and usually I won’t watch a thriller but, I did and this will take you far away from everything that’s happening for a few hours.
One another note I have been looking and thinking of a way to connect with you all in a viral way from your home. I found a way that is more personal (I think) and certainly more private. Stay tuned.
Most of you know my true love is flowers and I was trilled to finish this beautiful Colossal Cone Flower from Gina K. Designs all in a day!
Sorry for the unedited photos but, I wanted to share them.
When ever I am coloring with pencil I have to remember to “enjoy the process” one of my top 10 coloring tips.
Sharp, sharp & sharp is the only way to go. Check out the 50 second video here.
So fun coloring this flowers. The petals are a nice size for watercolor, marker or pencils.
If I may be frank … I used my Prisma colored pencils. Every.single.time I reach for them it’s so frustrating. They always always break!
These beautiful Electro Pop inks are from Rina’s New line with Theromweb. LOOVEEE them. I am not the type that buys all the inks but, I did! There are I think 8 in the collection. The particular stamp is from Gina K.Designs “A Big Hello” card kit but, you can do this technique with any solid stamp.
Adding pencil to the solid images really enhances the image and it’s mindless and super fun.
I am praying for you all and hoping everything is going ok. See you tomorrow. Hugs, Kathy

That’s a nice floral set. When you say you prep your work first with color I got confused. Did you mean with Copics or just a light shade of the pencil? Your project turned out great. I will say when I watched the video I cracked up at the hand giving the pencil lead the brush off. The way you did it I could feel the annoyance of that dadgummed lead falling out. Thank the Lord there are some things to laugh about.

The center of your coneflower looks so incredibly realistic! All of the time and color layering really paid off with this, it’s just gorgeous.

That flower is beautiful!! I have Prismacolor pencils. My biggest thing is to remember they have to be sharp!!
Could you tell me why you Keep using them if they always break!?
And do they break because you sharpen them so much? I’d really like to,know. They are not cheap, pencils!
Thanks

Oh my gosh, I love this! What an amazing job of coloring you did on this one! I too love flowers a lot because there is so much to color & you can make them any color you want, you don’t have to do them the exact color that they are supposed to be. It’s so hard to be told you can’t go anywhere or do anything. If I wasn’t a crafter I think I would go nuts! Coloring & stamping are my saving grace for sure. I just did something with colored pencils & I experimented. I love how it came out & I posted on your Facebook page. God gives me ideas & I run with them. I will post it here too. Stay safe & warm. We had snow today. We hardly had much all winter & today we get about 2 inches. or so. Tomorrow it will be above freezing so it will all melt.

Such beautiful coloring- the center of this flower looks so realistic! Beautiful shading as well. I have Prismacolor pencils from a long time ago- they are better than the newer ones I hear. I had an art teacher tell me the lead breaks because they have been dropped and the lead breaks inside. Maybe some brands are better with breakage than others?

That done flower is gorgeous. Love the coloring. I thought I was too heavy handed, I break my pencils all the time. I am really excited about Rina’s new inks. The colors are so cool. Stay healthy.

Wow Kathy, that flower head is so real I expected every moment a bee to come and collect honey from it. Stunning!
I love the second project, I also do more and more a layer of ink first and than playing with my pencils, that was the best tip ever I got from you!!
I have Polychromos pencils and last time I used them ( with the PP Dahlia XL) I broke while sharpening them, two times a pencil point. I don’t know how yours broke but I think I have to be more careful when I am sharpen my pencils.
Thank you so much for sharing, happy colouring, stay safe and healthy and see you tomorrow.
