Helloooo Friends, Today is Day 10!! On the last day of the Coloring Challenge I always have a sense of sadness and promise myself I will keep up with the daily coloring but, then it never happens lol. What about you? Thanks for taking this 10 day journey with me I am so blessed and grateful that you do. Taking part can just be watching from the sidelines. I know everyone isn’t always ready to jump in and that’s ok too. Thank YOU for watching it unfold.
I started coloring this gorgeous “Poppies Background” stamp from from Simon Says Stamp a few days ago. Each day I would color a few more blooms.
My markers were saying sending me signals that it was their turn to play. For this piece I was going for more of an artistic look with all the sketched lines.
The poppies were inked up with some Warm Glow . I love that the petals on the “Poppies Background” are super easy to color with large open petals. A lovely choice for watercoloring too.
When I decide to color a background I always start with that first. Think of it as prep work laying the foundation for your coloring.
Adding a base layer of markers before the pencils. I have said it before and I will say it again. This step saves sooo much time by starting with a layer of color before using your pencils.
Do you notice anything in this photo above? Focus on the background only. Scroll up to see the photo before this one. I used pencils to define the lines of the colored background. It’s a subtle look but, more polished or crisp.
In this photo you have the bloom colored with markers only. You can see how I layered the pencils. Filling in the tight areas …. those nooks and crannies first. Then adding the lines with a very sharp pencil. Keeping that tip sharp is key.
My desk in search of the right pencil.
Even though the Poppies Background has stamen in the centers I choose to ignore them. Once I was finished I decided to free hand some hand drawn black lines for stamen.
On another note …..

Time flies when you’re having fun, I know, but these last 10 days seem to have flown twice as fast. And fun I had, not only by crafting but also by looking what others make and see how much fun they have participating the Color Challenge.
Thank you so much for a wonderful Coloring Challenge, it was again great to participate. Thank you also to the Goodwill Ambassadors for all their work.
Can’t wait to participate in the 20th Coloring Challenge!
