Hello Friends! Woo Hoo it’s Day 1. of The Daily Marker 20th Coloring Challenge!!! Some of you have been with me since the very first 30 Day Coloring Challenge or close to that … whatever this challenge is for you I am grateful you keep coming back! Thank YOU! If you are new to the challenge or have been on the fence before and are jumping in for the first time so proud of you for taking this leap!! Let the joys of coloring reduce your stress, lower your blood pressure and or bring you some inner peace!
The Coloring Challenge is about community, creative play and bringing back the joy of coloring. My hope is that you don’t stress out what to color, or what stamp to use! Please don’t feel like you need to finish a card or your coloring for that matter. Most often my projects take many days to complete.
If you have questions about the challenge you can refer to this blog post. Thank YOU all for your participation, support and for coloring. I wouldn’t do these challenges if it wasn’t for YOU!
In case you missed my post last night I introduced the Goodwill Ambassadors for this celebratory 30 Day Challenge. I hope you have a few minutes to read the post. It magically took me many hours and I am sure there are plenty of typos even after checking and re-checking!
For Day 1. I try to think out of the box and do something different and often I spend more time than usual just for the first day. After today it will be business as usual with less time to complete a project and I will be happy just to find 10 minutes a day. Some days it will literally be only 10 minutes coloring a partial image. Please don’t feel like you have to keep up, post daily or catch up. Just do what works for you!
This project was so fun to create over several days with Gina K. Designs Mega Wreath Builder. I have always loved the wreath builder and for years I have wanted to create a butterfly kaleidoscope. The wreath builder made it super easy to get symmetry which was key for this piece.
The photo above is how my butterfly kaleidoscope progressed using Distress Oxide paints but, as you know this would work with any medium. Gina (Gina K. Designs) has a “Beautiful Butterflies” stamp set that I love because it has so many different butterflies which suited my project perfectly.
The butterflies were inked up with Gina’s Skeleton Leaves ink because it’s darker than my favorite ink (Warm Glow) with that said black would be dynamic! I decided to trace over the outlines on some of the butterflies with a black permanent marker when my paper was bone dry. Adding eyelash lines to parts of the wings was relaxing and fun to add those little details that give more dimension.
There are 2 ways to share what you are coloring. If you want to join a community of coloring enthusiasts I recommend Instagram. Instagram it’s about community, connecting & a great place to share what you are coloring. Tag me,Kathy and use the hashtag #thedailymarker30day. Children #thedailymarker30daykids. The 2nd way is share what you are coloring is to link up to my blog . It will always be on todays post…DAY 1. each day I will link you back on this post to share your coloring.
Thank YOU for your visit today and I can’t wait to see what ya’ all’ are coloring. See you tomorrow! Hugs, Kathy

Such a fun project, Kathy.
I have only recently started crafting again after a 6-month hiatus due to a lack of energy and mojo. I hope I can use this challenge to ease back into more crafting and colouring.
