Happy Friday! How are ya? Are you settling into a new habit of finding a daily practice … or not lol. Today I am super excited to show you my trick for faking a shadow.
On my Coloring Challenge Road Trips I always recommend not paying attention to where the light source is coming from because it can bring stress. Just fake it like you know it and that works like a charm.
*In the above photo I packed up my clipboard and collapsible marker bags to occupy myself in the waiting room. Passes the time quickly!
Just in cause you missed it bags and clipboard are currently 20% off for the first time!
My advice always been to darken one side of the image to add some “shadows”. Pick a side it’s doesn’t matter where. Also add that darker color in the “under” areas. Such as under the easel, under the arm, under the face etc.
I like to start with a dark color always using a dark, medium and light marker. (I like to mix up the warm and cool grey colors). Honestly it doesn’t really matter just as long as you have that dark, medium and light marker. The idea is so soften each line especially the last line. No harsh lines please. (I have lots of videos in my class for OCC with all of my coloring tips)
Since I wasn’t home I used my pencil to sharpen up some of the lines. If I was at home I would have used a SHARP colored pencil. Tomorrow I will be finishing adorable image called, “Art Is” from Colorado Company .
Have a good start to the weekend and see you Saturday. Hugs, Kathy

I love this stamp set and thank you for the tips on shadows. It really makes a statement. I have been sneaking in some postcard coloring in the afternoons. Our days of harvesting vegetables are upon us…. I love putting up zucchini for breads during the winter months. So my coloring time is at a premium this week. Hopefully I can get some time on Sunday afternoon. Hope your waiting room time isn’t for anything serious…..

Hi Kathy!
This is an adorable image! I love your tips for placing shadows! I would love to see a video from you showing these steps AND the shadows on the ground and floor! I have no idea how to color that…and I am sure there are others who don’t know. Maybe you’d put it on your list of possible posts? I would love that! Thanks for considering it!
