Hello Friends, How is your week going? I have been spending a lot of time in the kitchen because I started a food detox. Eek!! I would rather be doing more coloring.
Speaking of coloring … Â Virginia’s View Challenge is “All About Colors” and Virginia asked me to play along, Yes please! Her photo oozes inspiration. The funny part is I didn’t pay attention to this until my card was finished … good thing it’s a colorful one today.
Three colors were splashed & splattered on my background. I waited for each color to dry before I added more of the background color with my watercolors.
I inked up “Farm Fresh” with SSS black dye ink and used watercolors on the fun fruits and veggies. The scalloped square from PPP worked perfectly with LF’s large square die. The sentiment banner was had cut and layered with some vellum on top to soften it so it stands out more on the background.
Under the scalloped die you see some yellow fun foam peeking out. I wish I had this foam with a sticky back … it would have been much easier. However I love the pop of color. I always die cut two layers and glue them together to pop the frame higher on my card. So you really can see the yellow. The grass was cut from green vellum and I used a Copic marker to color the twine red.

Day 7. Video Watercolor & Distress Ink
Hi Kathy what a fun card!!! Love all the colors! Your card turned out AWESOME! Thank you for sharing and doing the color challenge!
I enjoyed the video very much! I love to see the thought process in action, mistakes and all. I also liked the “French word” that came out spontaneously. I had to laugh as it comes out of my mouth more frequently than I’d like to admit. Good suggestions on letting the splatter dry. I’ve been too impatient at times and end up with colors far different than I expected (and usually downright ugly). You had me when I saw the vellum on the card. It’s one of my favorite paper choices. I think you said you’d thought about doing something with a butterfly, but my mind immediately went to a little bunny peeking up and over the basket of goodies, making it a fun Easter card. All those scrumptious goodies must be available somewhere at Easter, no???
So glad I inspired your imagination. You could use vegetables for your bunny? LOL PS Your goodies left on Friday.

I love the way this looks and the best part is is that you are hot worried about ruining a full card. If it doesnt do you can start again. Very clever Kathy

Loved your video! It is so me some days, all thumbs and things going wrong. Oh my gosh woman do you own stock in Glossy Accents? Lol! That stuff sticks like crazy glue and you used enough to hold that card together through a tornado. It’s so fun to see you at work. You would be a hoot to scrapbook with.
I should have stock in glossy accent. It is my go to glue for everything. Thanks for the good chuckle! 🙂

Wow you are awesome Kathy, I really loved the unedited video because it shows that everyone has a bad day and no one is perfect. Oh my your lucky you only blurpped one bad word lol, if it were me I would have the whole alphabet included. I love to see that you are not afraid to show the imperfections that we all are guilty of. Thanks for this video.

Kathy, the card is beautiful and I am going to have a go at that background technique. But, what I loved the most is the unedited video. What a relief to see that you go through the same trial and error process that we go through. It is great to see the polished, edited videos that are usually produced, but so refreshing to see one that is so easy to relate to (including the” s**t” comment that makes you oh-so-human). I love your splatter card, it is so pretty. I also loved your video, it is really great to see that you make mistakes too because when I make a card I always screw it up many times before I am finished and swear my head off! I always am thinking how does everyone else get it done so quickly and smoothly, sometimes I even think I suck at this and shouldn’t do it anymore. So that you for being so real, I think you are awesome!

I was so excited yesterday, my hubby bought me a set of Bic Mark-its and I couldn’t wait to try them! I don’t have Copics and this is probably the closest I’ll ever get to them so I really enjoyed myself colouring last night when we got home! I’ll be playing with them again today! Kathy: I loved your uncut,, unedited video. It totally humanizes the creative process. I have been exactly where you were so many time…ruined a few cards, and even had some cards turn out for the better because of the misdirection from where I intended to go. Thanks for a good chuckle.

When I was in high school I took 4 years of art. I did a bunch of splatter paintings. My art teacher loved them. This was before stamping was even a big thing or even a thing, at least in my life. Hey, home computers weren’t even invented yet! We did make lino cuts though and basically they were rubber stamps that we cut out with exacto knives. Boy, did I cut my fingers plenty of times! My teacher always had plenty of band-aids. I haven’t thought of splatter painting till I saw your card! I love what you did! I’m going to have to do that on some of my cards! I also love that you do videos to show us how you arrived at your finished card.
I went outside today in the sunshine to do some coloring. I propped up my foot which now has a bigger boot on it and colored away! I have to have surgery on it and I am not happy about that and being off of it for about 6 weeks. Feel free to say some prayers that all goes well with the surgery.
I will say prayers for you and hope for a speedy recovery. 🙂
I loved your uncut video even with the “French”. Made me chuckle and realize we’re all the same, making mistakes and making do with what we have. And the card came out really cute!
