Day 28. Shaker Card, Blog Hop, Giveaway

Hello friends. I’m excited to be joining the My Monthly Hero Blog Hop celebrating the August Kit release. This month’s kit was inspired by “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and features a gorgeous forest fairy theme. Ohh la la!!

This kit is so enchanting I thought creating a shaker card would give my shaped card all that sparkle and shine that you find in a the wake of a fairy.

In my video I share how I created my mossy rocks and the birch trees. A double layer of foam gives my shaker card plenty of room for lots of sequins. I recommend this foam with a sticky back so you don’t have to add any glue or glossy accents. This acetate is super strong, heat resistant and great for shaker cards.

Glitter and sequins and more sequins give my shaped shaker card lots of fairy-licious sparkle. I used various ink to give my hills some texture by applying it with a nubby rag or wash cloth.

    This is beautiful. Can I ask you a question? Does the Copic colorless blender solution work with any alcohol markers??? And, what type of rag did you use to get that effect??? I loved that!!!! I have the full set of spectrum nour alcohol markers and just can’t bring myself to purchase copics yet. Wondered if this would work with them too? Do you, or does anyone, know? Thanks guys. You rock!!!! Jude. 🙂

      Try it. I’d think it would work but personally I haven’t used anything but Copics. I do know people use their Copics with other alcohol markers and have success. My rag is a corner of an old towel. Don’t forget to fluff the nap periodically when you’re creating texture. You can use an old washcloth, piece of burlap, swatch of denim etc. It’s fun to try and see what texture you can create with colorless blender. 🙂

I love to hear your process when you do something like this because it really helps me to grow, even though I am not sure I am ready to put so much detail into everything! Love the new rag! The Shakespearean Poetry Stamp is one of the stamps that I liked the most because of poetry and words on it but I also like the Fairy Stamp and Dreams Are Made Stamp because they are very detailed! Your card is so gorgeous with all of the elements then to have it be a shaker card was the bomb. Thank you for saying what you said on the video about just be yourself….so many times I think my cards are not as great as others but when I get those compliments I tell myself you did the best you could do otherwise the recipient would not have loved it.
