Hello Friends, How is your week going? Any plans for the weekend? Finally I can tell you about Crafters For A Cause. Have you caught wind about it yet?
It’s so exciting and it makes me feel so hopeful and joyful!! You can read all about it here & I hope you will get the same happy and warm feelings that I have. The fact that 100% of the total price is donated blows my mind!!A huge kudos to Heidi at SSS for making this happen and so many others that have donated!!!
Finally I had some time to color this beautiful mermaid stamp from Honey Bee Stamps called, “Mermaid Song” . The sentiment is from this stamp set that is a limited release for STAMPtember …. one of Simon’s collaborations with Honey Bee just for STAMPtember. Both stamp sets have awesome sayings but, I need something simple. I am trying to make many cards for Simon Says Stamp Crafters For A Cause!!
Honey Bee has the perfect background stamp for my mermaid but, I decided to use this Extra Large Dot stencil with some distress ink instead because it was right in front of me. (so happy the stencil is in stock) I colored some twine with a copic marker to tie around her hair.
My super fine tip multiliner that’s 0.03 was the only way to add realistic lashes on my mermaid.

I was lucky enough to see Jennifer’s post last night quickly enough – not everything was in stock anymore, but at least I managed to get the $25 donation in, which I hope is better than nothing Every little counts, right? Yes, saw the e-mail from Jenifer McGuire and immediately rushed over to SSS to purchase the $50 pack, but it was sold out. Then clicked on the $100 pack and it was sold out. Sad, but signed up for notifications for when they are available again.

I did hear about the boxes but when I went to purchase they were gone it had only been 20 minutes after I received Jennifers email -how amazing!!! I was affected, as a very large group of people here in the Houston area but I want to donate to the others that are all still in so much need of help. Oh I tried hard to get my hand on a crafters for a cause box but they were sold out! It’s ok, it just shows how people really want to help and that makes me happy enough! In between crafting this weekend, I’m going to clean out my closets and see what I can donate! That will make me happy as well! There is such a dire need, and I will do what little I can to help!

Yes, I have heard of this awesome cause! My SIL has a brother & his wife who are still in PR and we are hoping they can get on a flight out soon. The devastation is mind-blowing and all of these places need so much help to recover!

The SSS Crafters for a Cause literally erupted yesterday. Big kudos to SSS for rolling this fundraising event out and big props to all of the companies who have done fundraising events of their own to support such an important cause. It brings everyone together and there’s nothing greater than that.

Yes, I heard about it and have donated! Their website was apparently overloaded the first time I tried yesterday and I couldn’t get the pages to download. When I finally got the donation page to add to my cart, it said the $25 box was sold out!!! But, in the meantime, I asked if they had any names/contact information of crafters in need. My thought process was: it’s unlikely that (unless crafting is how they earn their living) when funds are released for re-building, craft supplies will get much priority. But–knowing how we ‘recharge’, craft supplies will be a priority for mental health! I had already gone through my stuff and pulled some duplicate supplies and some basics (bases, envelopes, patterned papers, washi tape, double-sided tape, etc) out of my supplies to be a starter kit for someone. I am now waiting for them to send me a name, and I can go to the post office and send it off. Thanks for getting the word out and for your very caring heart.

I have heard about “Crafter’s for a Cause”. This is such a wonderful way to give to all the people and areas that have been hit so hard by the recent hurricanes. I live in Florida, and we are very grateful that we didn’t have more damage than we did. We were without power for 10 days, but that’s nothing compared to areas like Puerto Rico, where the devastation has been unmeasurable. I will be donating to this great cause because I know that 100% will go to these people, not into someone else pocket.

I live near the ocean, about 20 min drive away, so I love anything to do with the ocean. Your mermaid is so beautiful! Your colouring always looks amazing, Kathy. Those little added details make such a difference. Crafters for a Cause is an awesome cause – I read about it on Jennifer McGuire’s blog. I checked but the boxes have been sold out. I hope they bring them back soon. I am so glad we can do something – it’s hard to stand by and watch disasters happen. Now we can help. Crafters have always been a very caring and generous group. I think that’s why we make cards – to bring a smile and some joy to others.

I live in Europe, I bought a 25 dollar box to help out (at that moment the 50/100 dollar boxes were already sold out)!
I heard about the cause on another website but it wasn’t yours or Jens. I don’t remember whose but it said the boxes were all sold out. I went on SSS anyway and told them to send me something when you get more in. I could only give $10 but I didn’t want to give to the Red Cross. I thought they were a good organization but when I heard from my sister how they threw stuff away and gave people very little food compared to some church organizations and other places, I decided they weren’t the best to give to. This is a win/win for us and them. We win by getting some great craft stuff and they win by getting some much needed help. I wish I could give more but I can’t right now.
Can we make cards for them? I’d like to if I can. If I could put myself to good use while care giving my mom and helping my sister at The Big E for the last weekend, I’d like to. Please let me know.

Yep, I have heard of Crafters for a Cause. So wanted to nab one of $100 boxes but have been out to town the last 2 days and missed both times! It’s so so cool how SSS and y’all are working to raise $$ for those that need the help so much! And goodness me, what beautiful coloring you’ve done on the mermaid!!

as soon as I read about “crafters for a cause” I tried to buy a box but they were all out of stock. I’ve never been happier to not be able to buy something! ot meant people rushed to help others in need. this crafting community is so kind, they inspire me with their beautiful cards and blogs and videos and actions.

Your mermaid card is so adorable and I love the conch shell!! I saw a beach piled high with those shells when I visited the Yucatan in college…those were the days. What a fabulous idea it was! And how wonderful that it has raised so much money so far. I was busy with my own items at work so I wasn’t able to participate however I have done so on my own in a different manner giving money through a fun raised for employees of ours affected in those regions it’s amazing how devastating it has been
Of course I’ve heard of them and I love donating cards to them and other charities!

Yes Kathy, I have heard about this great cause. I’m currently on a road trip, didn’t have access or find about it until we stopped for the evening and checked into our hotel. Of course all of the boxes had been sold out, I did get put on a notification list, and despite checking every chance I get, alas, still sold out. We are doing fund raising through our church, so plan to do that when we get home. I keep praying for the poor people in the hurricane stricken areas.
