Day 10. A Teaser & Giveaway

Hello Friends!! How are you today? Last week on Instagram I mentioned that I have a big announcement to make and any day it will happen. Ahhhh I am so excited and thrilled and honored to be asked to take the Coloring Challenge Road Trip to _____ ____ ______ . Can you fill in the blanks?

Any ideas where I might be going? Take a guess and leave a comment and I will pick a random winner to win a goodie bag full of stamps. Winner will be announced at the end of the 30 day coloring challenge.

On another note I am at that age where I need more sympathy cards. The sentiments in this set called, “Moments of Grace” are incredible and perfect to put on a card or even a text for that matter. Usually it’s hard to find the right words but, this stamp set is the ticket.

Stamping a background is something I have always loved to do and I find it really relaxing. It’s easy to outline the images with two markers. The first color was B05 and then I used B02 on top to soften the B05 lines. Using the vellum softens the background so you can read the sentiments.

Adding vellum to a cards is a bit of a challenge but, not this way. I had one piece of scrap that I had trimmed and decided to cut it in half. Gluing the strips to the vellum works well if you give it time to dry. When dry … wrap the strips around your card panel and tape them to the back. No unsightly glue showing through the vellum and this is quick and easy.

Adding a few of Lucy’s sequins is a great finish. Lately I have been using this glue to adhere the sequins.

    When it comes to Sympathy cards, always remember: less is more. Some of this “Hallmark fairy dust” as my daughter put it, can actually be insensitive . I always thought evoking the “lovely memories” in a sentiment was a good idea until I became the recipient. At the time of death, memories were too painful…a constant reminder of what I lost. My most favorite card had the simple sentiment…”Wishing you peace”. It was so powerful and so what I needed.

    Boy, I know what you mean about sympathy cards being needed. Sad, put part of what we deal with at one point. That is a lovely sentiment. Maybe you will go to Texas since it’s not far from Arizona? Glad to see you are coming back here. I would sign up now if I could!

    Okay, I see that there are 3 lines up there so I will say New London, CT? I would love for you to come to CT. I don’t know how many stamp stores we have left in CT but I would love to meet you & I can’t afford to travel far & I am caregiving my mom so I can’t go far because of that either.
    Sympathy cards are the hardest for me to make. I never know what kind of stamp to use on the card, what colors to use, what kind of paper to use, etc. When my mom buys a sympathy card, she looks at tons of them & will ask me which one I like. Even before my dad died, I would get tears in my eyes reading those cards. Making them is a whole other thing. I like the colors you used but I’ve never put sequins on my sympathy cards though. I don’t know about that even though I like them on yours. I like all the sentiments & I might just have to get that set.
    This is a stamp I have for sympathy cards. At first I thought it was for dancers in general until I read it a bunch of times & realized it was for a sympathy card. “Maybe when we die, our Real Selves shake off the confines of our skin & bones & even those who never danced or turned cartwheels on Earth will pirouette & spin lightly, gaily, gorgeously though the cosmos.” My dance teachers mom died & I used this on her card. Thank you for showing us your card & I am sorry to hear about what happened. Sympathy cards are the ones I wish I never had to make.

    WOW Kathy, this is gorgeous card and sentiment. As strange as it sounds, sympathy cards are my fave ones to make. NOT because of the occasion itself but because it gives me a chance to make a beautiful and elegant card. (I keep a stash of them made ahead to suit different needs!) I have always found it especially hard to find appropriate verses but happy to see that is changing. However, I need to get more as I only have 3 sets.
