Hello Friends, It’s a two post Wednesday. If you are arriving from Penny Black Please scroll down for my SNEAK PEEK NO. 3 and my tutorial on embossing with parchment paper & vellum! FUN š
I just love the Simon Says Stamp Challenges here. They really get me thinking out of the box. The challenge this week is to “make your own embellishments”. I couldn’t wait to get started. As you might know that each week you can win one of these $50.00 vouchers! Wait until you see what the DT has created to inspire you on the Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog!
I used Spellbinders NESTED POINSETTIAS from Nestabilities Dies here to create my large flower and the flower on each card in my set of six thank you notes.
I love the look of torn paper all distressed and inky! I think of thiscard sometimes and I wanted to create something similar but, different. I ended up making a set of thank you cards to insert into the “card”.Ā The paper for the thank you cards I made are Basic Grey “kioshi” and the colors were perfect with all of the distress ink. Hereis the link for the paper. For the thank you notes I cut out each corner of the paper with the Poinsettia die here. I had ended up with 6 cut out holes and 6 small poinsettias. I distressed each one with two different distress inks. The colors in total that I used were Bundled Sage, Crushed Olive, Broken China, Tumbled Glass, and Chipped Sapphire. Once all the parts were distressed I inserted the flowers into the top corners mixing the papers. I used some tape on the back to hold them in place. I punched some circles for the center with this punch. Then I added some white dots & stitching with my favorite gel pen by Uni Ball.
Each thank you card was stamped with this same sentiment (from Penny Black) on a different piece of this yummy paper from Basic Grey.
For the large flower I cut two medium flowers from white scrap paper & three small flowers from the Poinsettia die. I distressed them with the Broken China, Tumbled Glass and Chipped Sapphire. The leaves were cut from the last flower and used as petals. I distressed them with Bundled Sage & Crushed Olive. I stamped everything with my go to background stamp called Letter Background from Penny Black. White accents were created with the only gel pen that works 100 % of the time for me by Uni Ball.
The torn part of the card was created the same way as I did the flower so please refer to those directions. Let me know if you have any questions. The soft part of the background is lined with vellum. Speaking of vellum…. I have been sharing tips all week on different ways to use vellum so I hope you will scroll down for my Monday and Tuesday posts.
I’ll be back tomorrow. Thanks again for all of your lovely comments. Hugs, Kathy

Thank you for the inspiration. This is something that I could make for my sister! I have been wanting to try making different flowers after seeing pictures of all of the different ones at CHA. I love how you used the kioshi (my favorite, but probably not my sisters favorite) paper! You made a wonderful note set! Thank you for sharing it.
