If you have had or have breast cancer….October can be a month you are NOT fond of because it’s a constant reminder for thirty one days of what you have gone through or you are going through! Don’t you wish you had a glass ball so you could see the future? Well life is a mystery so I guess I will leave it at that. Here is the card I created for SRM stickers and Breast Cancer Awareness. All of the inked papers started out white and I added lots of distress ink, crumbled the paper, tore it, ironed it and inked it again. A little stitching and I wasn’t finished until I added the perfect SRM sticker sentiment here.
The card measures 9 x4 so the size packs a punch. The tree symbolizes growth. The musical background symbolized harmony and balance. The messy, crumbly paper symbolizes all the stress that cancer brings. Card Instructions:
Stamp music notes with worn lipstick on white paper and set aside. Line up your letters and stamp in the orchid ink. Then stamp the tree with VersaFine or Memento on white paper. Distress with worn lipstick and mahogany. Tear and crumble your paper, carefully iron your paper, and distress again. Stamp the flowers in memento, on white scrap paper, color and cut flowers. Assemble your card.

A year ago I lost my mom to breast cancer..didn’t know she had it. But…I have a scrapbooking friend that just finished the final stage of the treatment for breast cancer. She has been off work, and then her husband has been off work due to back injury so they have had a HARD year. I would love to see it go to her as a reminder of how strong she is.

Gorgeous card, Kathy! Since I’m on hormone replacement therapy I make it a point to have a yearly mammogram (in October) and do monthly self exams. I have a friend who just had surgery for breast cancer, and praise God it was found early enough that she needs no further treatment. We can beat this disease…if we continue to fight like girls!

Your card is absolutlty gorgeous ! Thank you for all the woman who had breast cancer. I lost a lot (and too much !)of my relatives, due to cancer but my “godmother (?, marraine en français) is a breast cancer survivor. She’s a fantastic person and even if she had a lot of doubt, during her treatment, she went ahead.

Beautiful card! I have a friend who decided to put together a team for the Susan G. Komen race in New Orleans. In order to raise money, she put together a Zumbathon fundraiser. This fundraiser was to be held on Friday, October 1st. On Wednesday, September 29th, just 2 days before the event, she found out that her 25 year old daughter had been diagnosed with breast cancer. So without even knowing, this lovely, giving woman, who set out to raise money for a good cause and a cure for a horrible disease, was in fact raising money to find a cure that would one day save her daughter.

What a stunning card. I would love to tell you about my sil. Her name is Angel, and she is truly an Angel. She is just finishing up her chemo treatments next week and then starts on the radiation treatments. She has to fly to Houston for each of these treatments. She is excited to become a 1st time grandmother and be with her daughter for this exciting time. Not sure if that will happen with the upcoming chemo treatment and the babies due date so close together.

I can’t believe how many others including co-workers and friends are touched by this horrible disease and I urge one and all to make sure they go for a yearly mammogram. I believe it saved my life!
