Hello Friends, My….my!! You all are a creative bunch! I have loved seeing all of your art work and I find it so inspiring.Tomorrow I should be able to get to you that posted your creations on my blog. Also, this weekend I will try and give you the right info in case you are having trouble linking and or how to do it. If you have an Instagram account I would rather you post there …. I can walk on the treadmill and leave comments so it’s easier for me. If not no problem it just takes me a little longer to leave a comment. Thanks for your patience 🙂
Simon Says Stamp has some lovely new planner stamps and some mini ink cubes and I just had to use them right away. Creating a background with them was a snap and I decided to do a quick video to show you have easy it is to use a Dove Blender marker with watercolors. The succulent stamps from Simon were used too.

See you tomorrow. Hugs, Kathy

What a neat design. I love the look of this so I will definitely have to invest into one of those Dove blender pens. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful ideas, you are such an inspiration to me so thank you for that. Can’t wait to see what you do for day 4 of your color challenge!
Amber B says
I have a blender pen and haven’t really used it much. Time to break it out and try this technique.
Birgit says
This is really sweet! I have some old watercolor pencils and blender pens from SU! I’m hoping the pens aren’t dried up. This will be my coloring focus for today.
Also just wanted to let you know that I don’t have an Instagram account so I’m using my blog for this challenge. Hope you’ll come see my work. I started on day one. Thanks for your instruction and inspiration! :0)
jenn shurkus says
love your card kathy! you are so clever 🙂
Jackie says
Your card is beautiful! I got distracted by reorganizing my craft room yesterday and didn’t color anything, but I hope to make up for that today.
Marissa M. says
Weird question…should we only post in ONE place for you? EITHER Instagram or link here?
Marissa M. says
Ha! I should have watched the video first. Got it 🙂
Kathy Racoosin says
Thanks for making note of that! 🙂
Barb says
Awesome tips today, using the Dove Blender, Kathy! Love, love, love your gorgeous card! Once again, I have to wait until after work to play but I can’t wait to use my pencils and Dove Blender – I’ve struggled with it in the past but you make me feel like I can do it! ♥
Kathy Racoosin says
Barb, I know you can do it and enjoy! 🙂
Beth Holt says
This is so pretty! Thanks so much for the instruction on how to use the water color pencils and Dove blender. The colors you used are stunning!
Kathy Racoosin says
You can do it! Take your time and enjoy! 🙂

Kathy, LOVE this card!!!!!
Marianne says
Love the soft and pretty look of this. I dont’ have a Dove blender pen, but I’m wondering if I could use a Aquamarker blender pen instead. I guess there’s only one way to find out! Also wanted to let you know I had so much fun colouring last night, drawing inspiration from your day 2 post. I want to try turning my 2 samples into cards today. Otherwise, I’ll just post them on my blog as is (I don’t use Instagram).
barb macaskill says
This is so pretty! LOVe the colors!! Thinking that I am going to do water coloring for tomorrow! I haven’t done any in a few days and am having withdrawal symptoms! LOL I have a few stamp sets arriving today that will be perfect for it (WPlus9 Unforgettable being one of them) and am dying to use them! I tagged you on Instagram for Day 2 and 3 instead of linking on the blog. Is that right? TFS!
Kathy Racoosin says
That’s perfect! Did you get my comments?
Beth Williams says
A real OMG moment for me with this post. I have a Dove blender-5 years! Did not know or think to try it with watercolors. Brilliant-can’t wait to give it a try-‘cuz my coloring leaves much to be desired. I think this will help-thank you!
Teresa says
Love your card and the technique. I need a Dove blender pen. My SU one is toast. LOL
Donna Dacy says
Like I said on the comment I made on the video…Love this technique and the colors are so soft. I asked a question about the Dove blender and with what it can be used with…pencils, dye or water based markers or even alcohol markers. I think not with alcohol markers. Great design, great technique. Super job. TFS
Kathy Racoosin says
In my experience the Dove blender only works on watercolor pencils and watercolor markers. Hope this helps.
Jamie Vanskiver says
Thank you soo much for this video! I have the Dove blender pen and have yet to really play, thanks for the inspiration! Beautiful card:)
Tammy says
O my the background turned out super gorgeous. Love the soft look. I did not know you could use a dove blender with water color pencils. Thanks for sharing.
Lucy Schmidt says
Ooooohhh, my favorite so far. Love the soft pastels, though I’m usually drawn to more muted colors. Great technique. The bit of green matting really makes the whole thing come to life. I like the fussy-cut plant much better than the original panel idea. I, too, have a blender pen…someplace…. Time to excavate, I guess.
Victoria H. says
Another hit….you are so masterful at all things coloring! Thank you giving us all something to try.
Maureen Hayes says
Okay, I did it! I put it on Instagram today since you asked for that! but I hope I tagged it right! I have never used Instagram before. The first two days I linked up through your blog. When you have a chance to catch up can you let me know if my try today came through Instagram so I know where to link tomorrow? Thanks and I am loving seeing you create each day, you are so talented with all the coloring mediums and you always inspire me!
Hugs,
Maureen

Hi Kathy~ I’ve already commented on your lovely card but came back to ask a question.
Do you know if the Dove blender pen would work with Stampin’ Up’s colored blending pencils? I have the pencils but my blending pens are super old and don’t work well. I hate to buy new pencils if it’s not necessary. Thanks for your time.
Kathy Racoosin says
Hmmm, not sure. If they are watercolor I would assume so. Give it a try and let me know. Good Luck.
Birgit says
Sorry… me again. I also don’t see the linky tool to add today’s coloring project. Ha! I’m so needy. ;0)
Kathy Racoosin says
No you’re not..lol Just so you know, every time you link your card, it will be on day one. I did this so all the cards would be in the same place. Here is a handy link for you..

Thank you! Love this background you created. I never tried using my Dove blender with watercolor pencils.

So pretty! Now I am going to have to play with my as-yet-unused dove blender pen and my watercolor pencils. I had so much fun yesterday playing with 2 stamps and my pan pastels. (Not the brand name, but the Pebbles brand.) I’m off to fix dinner, then playtime! I am loving the challenge because it’s pushing me to try some of my supplies–just get them out and play with them. I will never be an artist (as in drawing), but am learning to play. Unfortunately, that comes with the addiction to try more supplies in every color!
Renee V says
I bought the Dove Blender after seeing another video of yours about a year ago. It certainly does help me alot. Anyway, love the video, thanks for the reminder about trash. You are so right, and I needed the reminder…Sometimes I get so lazy, and throw stuff out when I could have just refilled it.
Sheri K says
So funny that you did this today–I used watercolor pencils and dove pen for my coloring last night, and I never did instagram before, but after your comment on the video, I opened an account. Now I shall just have to figure out how to post a photo. Anything to make Kathy exercise—now you know what an exercise pusher I am!
Becky Green says
This is the PERFECT challenge for you to give us, Kathy! Looking at the name of your blog & all…. 😉 Super card! LOOOOVE how you colored the succulent too! Just BEAUTIFUL!!!
Cheryl says
Another great video Kathy! I need to get a Dove Blender. I really like the soft
background on the card. This is so much fun seeing new techniques.
Looking forward to trying these out this weekend. Thank you so much!

FABULOUS technique and LOVELY card Kathy!!!
I haven’t used my watercolour pencils much and only used a paintbrush to blend them. The Dove Blender looks like a COOL TOOL and I will definitely be looking out for one.
I’m really enjoying your 30 Day Coloring Challenge and will try my hand at as many techniques & styles you share. I’m so sorry, but I don’t have Instagram, so instead I will combine several days of colouring into each post. I don’t expect you to come and comment though, I am more than HAPPY to be INSPIRED by you and push my creative limits => THANK YOU helping me 🙂

Beautiful Dove blender work Kathy! The colors blend beautifully. I’m love using my Dove blender with the watercolor pencils, and with distress inks and markers. Enjoying the challenge. Unfortunately, I am not on Instagram…guess I will have to look into that some time.
Vickey e. says
This is beautiful! I didn’t know about the Dove blender pen but now I want one. You are just such an inspiration and I am so excited to be pushed to do coloring every day and not be so lazy when I’m done at work. Also you encouraged me to use Instagram and I’ve even learned stuff on that today! It’s fun. Thank you, thank you!

Hi Kathy,
I like how you used the planner stamps & colored pencils with the Dove blender. The colors turned out so soft looking, yet very colorful. Great job & very imaginative.

Thank you for the video!! I remember using my blender pen with my watercolored pencils years ago. I totally forgot about it, though. Now i am going to have to drag it out and attempt to use it again. Thank you for the reminder!! I LOVE the card you created. The background is stunning and I love how you did the succulent!!
Milka says
Oh WOW! This is so pretty. Thank you for sharing Kathy. 😀
Joan VanCourt says
I just love the look of this card. I need to remember to use watercolor paper. I am sure it makes a world of difference. Yow, you are just full of great tips and techniques. Loving these videos. Thanks.
Jessica H. says
Wow such a pretty cactus!! Love the tips!! How are you liking those ink cubes??
Gabriele says
Fun back ground technique and another great card!
Tricia Ann says
I don’t have a Dove Blender Pen. I have the blender pens that come in the Tombow Dual Brush pens sets of 10 but they make the paper peel, even watercolor paper. When I purchased a pkg of Staedtler Watercolor pencils several years ago, I also bought a bottle of Gamsol, mineral spirits. This came with paper sticks with nibs for blending and sandpaper. I wonder if mineral spirits is the liquid in the Dove blender pen. I’m going to give my watercolor pencils another try. They didn’t impress me very much after I purchased them.
Riette says
Beautiful – love the soft pastels.
Jennyfer L says
I love the watetcolor background against the bold colors.
Robyn Grogan says
Gosh, I’ve had these Dove Blender Pens for literally 15 years, with the replacement nibs and the bottle of solution to refill them and have just left them languishing in their little bin! I will now get those babies out and put them through their paces. At the time I got them I bought one for each color family and have a little sticker on each one to indicate the color. So SEE! We do end up using all those art and craft supplies we accumulate! 😀
Sandi Neumann says
Oh my how cool! Going to try this technique over the weekend!
