Hello hello friends!!! I am so delighted that you are here today to celebrate my collaboration with Hero Arts for their 2nd “My Monthly Hero” kit!! Hero Arts has always been to me like that first love….that boyfriend that always has a special place in your heart. For many many years I have said how Hero Arts saved me through the teenage years by giving me a distraction and a creative purpose. Even better I have made many life friends from my love of stamping with Hero Arts. So it’s a dream come true to have this collaboration with Hero. Thank you Hero Arts for believing in me 🙂
Libby from Hero Arts asked me how I came up with this idea for this stamp set. Here is my answer:
I wanted to combine my love for plants and succulents to be shared. My initial concept was to do a stamp set that could be dressed up for the holidays and used all year round. The versatility of a stamp set is a key feature. I also wanted the unexpected use of succulents for the holidays. Succulents aren’t the plants you think about for Christmas especially inside of an ornament. These ideas were inspired by a family trip to Arizona and seeing beautiful blown glass planters this summer. The miniature terrarium/ ornament was born to showcase the succulents and other fun coordinating elements. The selection of tops were designed to signify other seasons. Hero Arts was awesome to collaborate with to create my concepts into the November My Monthly Hero kit. I was so honored to be given this privilege. I love the final November My Monthly Hero kit and I hope you do to.
HERE ARE ALL OF THE SNEAKS that Hero Arts and I have been sharing. Today you will see more than what I am sharing here. Click on a thumbnail to read more about it. The winner has been posted and you can read about it here. Woo Hoo 🙂

I thought I would share some of the colors that I used to create a few of my cards.
When I was in Arizona I snapped some cactus for inspiration. Love the yellow and the green stripes and so easy to duplicate. The solid ones have some blue and a fun color to use on succulents.
Thank you all for your lovely comments I tell ya you sure know how to make a girl feel loved. Thanks from the bottom of my heart. Now it’s time to visit Sandy Allnock’s blog here. Have a great day! Hugs, Kathy

First, your collection is stunning….I can relate to the succulents given I live in Florida. Love how thoughtful you were with the designs and the versatility.
Second, Hero Arts never disappoints. Good move on their part to partner with you. I really like their product designs and quality.
Third, love when dies are available. My rickety old hands don’t fussy cut very well any more. I never met a “die” I didn’t love….seriously. LOL
Okay…since your’ve taught us so much, here’s something maybe I can teach you about:
Succulents can be associated with the holidays….several of them, in fact. Have you ever heard of Christmas cactus, Thanksgiving cactus or Easter cactus? I have the Christmas one and had an Easter one until the squirrels ruined it; my sister has the Thanksgiving one….she lives in a colder climate, so hers stays indoors. They require almost zero maintenance, they will get large, but can be grown in pots and they bloom every year at the appropriate holiday time….without fail. My Christmas one was kept inside for years, but has been moved outdoors and it is beautiful every Christmas. The blooms are a really dark pink…not quite red. When they aren’t in bloom, they are just green. I must have had it for 15 years or more. Check it out….you can probably google it.
Thanks for such a fun month….I will miss you every day. (grin)

You’re so sweet. I totally forgot about the Christmas cactus. I know exactly what you’re talking about but I forget names of plants. Enjoy 🙂

I was online at noon and was fortunate…I got the kit and the additional die cut set. I simply love everything about this and have been sitting on pins and needles all morning hoping to get my order in before they sold out! I remember hanging an open ornament with an air plant from my kitchen window many years ago. This brings back so many memories. Your talent shines through in all that you do. You rock Kathy!!! Enjoy your well deserved spotlight.

Oh my gosh! You and Hero Arts! I have some of their stamps and I love what you created. We used to have some plants like this. We have a huge picture window in our living room and if you look out of it, you can see the whole city. We had a plant table near the window with some of these plants on it. Now I put pots with herbs growing on the window sill. With the heating vents below the window its like a greenhouse on the windowsill in the winter. Anything I plant just grows and grows!
Gail Plaskiewicz says
Who says the plants have to be the color they really are? You know me, I might make them more colorful. In my world everything is really colorful anyway. I love how yours look too though.

I am so happy for you, Kathy. I’ve been one of your fans for years and have learned so much from you. I ordered one of the Hero Arts kits to support your endeavor. Now that many of my friends have moved to warmer climates in their retirement, it is great to have some succulent choices for cards especially for the holidays. I have a Christmas cactus that I wait each each year to watch it bloom. Great job- keep on going.

Kathy, this kit is so perfect in so many ways. Living in San Diego, I love succulents. So when I saw your stamps, I was really happy to see that they were in that shape. Of course , they can be coral or bushes or whatever as well. Just SUPER! Congrats!

CONGRATULATIONS Kathy!!!
FABULOUS kit – the plants and accent pieces are so pretty and versatile, all the sweeter for knowing how you were inspired.
I confess to having a soft spot for succulents too, with so many precious memories associated with my Mother, Grandmother and Mother-In-Law growing them. Some of MIL’s Christmas cactus (Zygocatus, we can them inch plants) have just started flowering, a beautiful reward for such a low maintenance plant.
LOVE the sneak peeks, looking forward to seeing more 🙂
