Hi friends. Welcome to DAY SIX of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge. A few weeks ago, my sweet friend Jennifer McGuire asked for help in collecting cards for an amazing cause…
Lasting Hearts is such a wonderful cause and I got emotion in the video. It’s still uploading right not lol but, I will update this post as soon as it finishes.
I made 14 of these and enjoyed adding lots of little details.
Lasting Hearts is here to comfort mothers who have lost a child. Our friend Kimberly has experienced this pain and has found comfort with the book, “You are the Mothers of all Mothers” by Angela Miller. Kimberly is hoping to have copies of this helpful book along with handmade cards available for doctors to give to parents who have lost their babies. This is an amazing idea and we can help!
There are two ways that you can participate. One way is to Donate money HERE. Every dollar donated will be put towards the purchasing of these special books to be passed out to parents who have lost a child via miscarriage. Another way to help is to create a card for the Lasting Hearts Card Drive. All the details are HERE on Jennifer’s blog. If you do make a card before 2/29, you will be entered in a prize drawing from Hero Arts for a chance to win $100 in products!
Also, Simon Says Stamp and Hero Arts are teaming up to help this cause and are bringing back THIS stamp set…
This was a limited edition stamp set that was sold out in September. They have brought it back and are donating 25% of the proceeds to this cause. Isn’t that awesome!?
I hope you will consider helping in any way you feel comfortable. Let’s share some kindness!
See you tomorrow to share what others are creating. Happy weekend! Hugs, Kathy
P.S. Go HERE to read more about the 30 Day Coloring Challenge and here if you want to see how I prepared. If you want to share what your creating go to DAY 1 and scroll to the bottom of the post. You will find a blue Inlinkz tab to link up your coloring.
Supplies and links: Affiliate linking might be used depending on the product.

Thanks so much for the reminder. I started two cards, but need to tweak one of them and make some more. I got de-railed making valentines for my family and with the grand-kiddos, plus a birthday and baptism in the family. I will definitely make a push to get some more made this week. (Even if they don’t look as good as yours!)

This is a beautiful card, Kathy. As always, your added detail to the stamped image make it unique and add so much more interest. I can’t find the Avery Elle stamp set you used, so when you know the name of the set please post it for us. I’ll keep watching for their newest release for it. Cheers!

Hi Sue here, this is such a wonderful idea, at a desperate time for anyone, to offer them a small comfort from a stranger. I have sent off a few cards already but will continue to do more. Although postage from Wales in UK can be a bit steep! Still I’m enjoying the thought that I am a part of something big and I only spend my pension on my crafting anyway! xx

Beautiful–I intend to make some cards, just tried to purchase that stamp set yesterday, it is again sold out! Hopefully I’ll get them made before the end of the month, it is definitely on the “list”–but I’m also working on a ton of other projects. Congrats to your son–my son is same age, still living at home, has graduated from college, has full time job and has been saving up to move out in the next few months. So cool that you cooked for him, I’m sure he and his friends loved it! Thanks for all you do.

These really are very pretty Kathy and I love the soft colours you used vs. stark white. (As much as I like a bright white, I think these ARE more appropriate for such an occasion!)

Oh, that’s a really great cause, I’ll point a mom to it that will appreciate it.
I also love your card. I have to try this foam mounting finally, too, maybe for day 7.
Gloira Lee says
Wow, You made 14 cards !
You and your cards are amazing!
They will take comport from your cards.
Thank you for sharing!
Lucy Schmidt says
A very worthy cause, for sure. I’m fortunate to have not had to go through that. On another note, can I just say I think it says a lot about you (and your son) that he wanted you to be part of such a momentous milestone, as well has having his friends come over to hang out with you, too. It would make a great scrapbook page.
Jo says
WOW Kathy your cards are absolutely stunning! That floral stamp is gorgeous!!! I love that you added all that extra detail with your white pen! It really does make the image come to life. The women who will receive these cards will be touched. I appreciate you that you took the time out of your busy life to stop and create these cards for complete strangers during their hour of need. It amazes me that there are still GREAT people in this world. May God bless you and continue to keep you working through Him to help others during their fallen times.
Hugs,
Jo

Beautiful cards, and for such a good cause. I feel emotional about this topic too. I have not been through it so I can only imagine the heartache these families go through. I’m getting ready to do my Day 6 colouring now. So far I’m 5 for 5! Thanks for the inspiration and kinds words!
Marianne says
Wonderful cards for a great cause. Love the toned-down colours of your cards and your soft-coloured cardstock. It’s also nice to see that you don’t always need to use colour blending to achieve great results, esp. with some added white dots lol.

I am currently working on some sympathy cards and think I can tweek the design to suit.
THANK YOU for sharing your tutorial and timely reminder Kathy … I confess that I am working with white-on-white but think I will be changing my ideas for next time after you pointed out the softer look with your cards, it really would make them feel like a comforting hug.
PS – you really are a COOL Mum 🙂

I was just thinking that I had to do something for this cause this weekend and realized I still have time. Phew! My sister gave me 2 of her cards. Her site is theproudpeacock.com and she is a photographer. She takes amazing photos and God gave her this amazing talent because she never took a photography class in her life! She has photo cards that are suitable for framing because they are that 8×10 size I think she said. I’m not sure what I am going to make but I will try to make them so that the person who gets them will get a smile on their face even though they are sad. The year before I was born I think my aunt & uncle had twin boys. This would have been 1953 or 1952. They died days after they were born. Then my aunt and uncle had my cousin Gary who is my age I think or a year older. I’ll bet if they had this then, it would have helped her. As far as I know there are no twins in my family so this would have been a first. I often wonder if she still thinks about them even today?
You did a beautiful job on the cards. I like your colors. You always do such beautiful work.
Oh yeah, I have to tell you that our library is having an adult coloring night! They supply the crayons, pictures to color and colored pencils, all you have to do is supply you! I might have to go!
Milka says
Gorgeous cards, Kathy. I feel very very emotional about this topic. Unfortunately, I had miscarriage twice… 🙁
